Roger Millions hints Cammalleri asked for trade [MRG]
Quote:
Roger Millions @RogMillions 46m
Bryan Murray says he's looking for atop 6 forward. If Mike Cammalleri wants out of #Flames, is there a match. 1 YR. 6 Mill left on his deal
Book O' Floob @bookofloob 43m
@RogMillions just curious, has he expressed a desire to leave? (I'd understand if he wanted out, just hadn't heard anything)
Roger Millions @RogMillions 40m
@bookofloob That is my understanding.

Bit convoluted and Roger never actually flat out says it but he's hinting at it here.
Something to look at around draft weekend?

Cammalleri himself hinted it was a possibility during exit interviews. I believe he something about having to decide if he wants to be apart of a rebuild or something of that nature.

Hopefully we can snag a 4th first round pick in exchange for his services.
I predicted he'd be the one dealt in the draft contest. My guess was to San Jose in exchange for Havlat, but I think we will also receive a 2nd rounder in the deal.

Would Sens give us a 1st rounder?

Personally, I would rather keep Cammi and trade Tanguay, but I am not so sure either would bring the return we are looking for.

I wouldn't be surprised, nor would I really blame him.
I think he should have some pretty good value.

Honestly, if that is all that's being offered I'd try to convince Mike to be a leader on a young team that isn't going to win much, play his heart out and promise him you'll flip him to a better team towards the 2014 trade deadline... where you're sure to get more then that for him.

We eat half his salary and we get an ok return. We almost have to just to reach the cap floor at this point, no?

Minimal value with declining performance, huge cap hit and a declining cap value. It's possible the flames could retain some salary or cap that would help with the return but we won't get anything big back for him.

Ottawa, Buffalo and Toronto would be good locations for Cammalleri.
If Feaster could swing a Cammy + for Myers trade I would not complain. Or for a decent prospect like Ceci out of Ottawa.

I don't see why we don't wait till the trade deadline and deal him for more value? I don't think we owe him anything in terms of honoring his requests. We need someone to fill top line minutes in this ugly season. Both his and Tanguay's play helped us get to the current state we are in today

Exactly, no need to go all in for this draft when you can likely get better value for him next trade deadline when his cap hit isn't so much of a burden.

I can't see him getting much more than a 1st rounder back (he is getting paid 7 mil)
UNLESS Flames keep some of his salary. Cammy at 4 mil for a team would create a bidding war most likely.

Yes I agree on the trade deadline, would be stupid to deal him now, he will bring in a boatload at the deadline... Teams are all looking for guys who won't impact their payroll for next season and he'll see plenty of ice and probably have nice numbers with the Flames.
No need to move him now unless someone pays a good price.

I am guess this is just part of your shtick, but declining players don't usually see an increase in production

This is where the Flames need to eat some salary to get a better return.
Cammy at a $6 million dollar cap hit is hard to fit in, but Cammy at a $4 million dollar cap hit would be good value.
Best return would come at the trade deadline, where you could sell the fact that he was over a PPG in his last two playoff appearances.
