Default Rangers will NOT buyout Brad Richards this year

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 14s NYR will not be using their remaining compliance buyout this summer so Brad Richards will remain a Blueshirt.

...yet. Probably makes sense for them to give it another year in order to salvage something.

Damn, I guess we'll have to trade for him now instead.

AV is good at maximizing players abilities while hiding their weaknesses. So why not give him a chance to make Richards look good again?

Not really surprising IMO. It was either Torts or Richards, now that Torts is gone they'll give Richards another shot, if nothing changes use it next summer.

Can they use the non-compliance buyout after this year? I thought it was just for this off season, which they later agreed to allow teams to use last year before the start of the season so guys like Redden and Gomez would be allowed to play hockey again.

Would be pretty comical if he had another crap season but ended up hurt at the end of it and they couldn't buy it out.

I think the only reason they aren't this year, is to try buying him out next year and try him with AV.

... isn't the whole reason Richards picked NYR to play with Torts again? Kind of funny. But glad though. We dodged a bullet.

yes. It's a max of two buyouts for each team until offseason 2014.

One less distraction for Jay. Good.

I think Richards got an unfair treatment from coach tort.

A little bit like Tanguay wanting Hartley as coach, except this time the player was moved.
