Default Alarm Force experiences?

We are looking into having Alarm Force install the new video security system at our house. Any good or bad expericences here? For $35.00 a month it seems worth it? Thoughts?

I have been happy with them, mind you I haven't been broken into. Have had a couple of false alarms where family came to house and entered code wrong, the response was instant.

Just had a friend say it took them 1 hour to respond/call police to a real break in at their house while they were away

When our dog tripped the main floor motion sensor, they called my wife and I about it right away. It took their rent-a-cop about 20 minutes to get to the house to check things out. (Of which we managed to beat them there)

No cops were called as we figured it was the dog however I am not sure if the Police would have been contacted if the couldn't contact us over the phone first.

....Still with the company as we haven't had a reason to leave otherwise.

This is off topic too, but I just love their radio jingle:

"Call 1 800 267 2000 and 1, Alarm Force...."

You could probably trust the Sino Forest or Bre-X guys to look after your house, possessions and sleeping children.

Their subscribers grew by 134,000 and yes, don't be alarmed, they are still listed on the TSX despite some of their newer commercials taking the reminder out.

So with that sort of response time, is it even worth it? I think all home alarms are a waste of money.

It's likely that the dirtbag will probably leave your house faster (and do less damage) if there is a siren wailing and they know the intrusion has been detected. The odds of the alarm actually helping to catch them is probably low unless you have cameras. Besides that it just lets you know quickly so you can get home and start dealing with the damage.

Is there a joke about being listed on the TSX?

Can't you cancel and go with another company, or are alarm companies harder to cancel than cell phones and gyms?

Hadn't heard that it was. Where did you find that out?

I think that a home alarm will scare off an amateur, but a pro would likely be able to bypass it.

At the end of the day, the savings on the home insurance offset a lot of the cost.

How much do you generally save per year on home insurance?
