Except for the 6th pick none of these are possible.

The Burmistrov/Cammy trade is possible IMO, but it's huge overpayment for a player who is spinning his wheels. He'd be a young reclamation project. I'd rather not trade a 50-60 point player for Burmistrov.

Burmistrov also seems redundant with the addition of Corban Knight... other than the Flames are weak at center.
I think Burmistrov and Knight play very similar styles and will play the exact same role on the Flames. The only difference is Burmistrov is more proven.

There's no guarantee that either Knight or Burmistrov will be capable of holding down their NHL position with the Flames. I can't imagine getting more future centre depth will hurt the Flames if teams are willing to take pieces that won't be here post rebuild given how poor the Flames are down the middle. That is, unless the Flames can acquire a much better prospect for Cammalleri.

What the heck. I will play. And steal ideas I have seen elsewhere
Roster Moves- M. Kiprusoff retires
- A. Tanguay (3 years left @ 3.5) to Phoenix/Seattle/Quebec for Z. Michalek (2 years left @ 4.0)and rights to B. Gordon (UFA)
- Z is a RH stay at home defenseman that can eat minutes
- M. Cammalleri to Anaheim for A. Welinski (NCAA) and a 2nd in 2013 (45th)
- 2nd and a smooth skating RH college defenseman with a big shot and can play nasty, he is however eligible for the "Shultz Loophole" after the 2014-15 NCAA season
- C. Butler (RFA) to Minnesota for Dany Heatley (1 year left @ 7.5), Z. Phillips (3 years left @ 0.938) and 2nd in 2013 (46th)
- I break it down as Butler for a 2nd, then they give us Phillips to take Heatley & his contract since injury will stop him from being bought out.
- C. Sarich (1 year left @ 2.0) to Los Angeles for K. Ellerby (RFA)
- Ellerby is a big physical defenseman and it doesn't sound like some King fans think he will get a qualifying offer
- re-sign Backlund, Bouma, Gordon, McGrattan, Brodie, Cundari, Ellerby, Byron, Nemisz and Breen
- sign G. Desbiens & J. Vandermeer for AHL help
- I don't think many will like these but both provide leadship and toughness to a young AHL team that is pretty soft
Draft Picks- 6th: Monahan Lindholm
- 22nd: Gauthier Lazar Rychel Erne
- 28th: McCoshen Bowey Fucale
- 45th: McCarron Bailey Heatherington Baptiste
- 46th: McCarron Bailey Heatherington Baptiste
- 67th: Bjorkstrand Fasching Pesce Comrie
- 135th: Lipon Hill Diaby McNulty
- 157th: NCAA/European forward
- 187th: NCAA/European defenseman
- 198th: NCAA/European goaltender (if no goalies have been picked) or forward
Flames Roster
Baertschi Backlund Glencross
Heatley Stajan Hudler
Horak Knight Stempniak
Bouma Gordon McGrattan
Jackman
Giordano Michalek
Brodie Wideman
Cundari Ellerby
Smith
Ramo Berra McDonald
Heat Roster
Byron Reinhart Nemisz
Street Phillips Hanowski
Howse Granlund Desbiens
Elson Bancks Ferland
Eddy
Breen Ramage
Wotherspoon Carson
Vandermeer Lamb
Culkin Martin
Ortio Brossoit
At the Deadline- Trade Heatley, Stajan and Stempniak for picks/prospects

Burmi will have zero problem holding down a center job in Calgary. He is an established 3rd line NHL center. His only problem is his offense has not come around after being drafted 8th overall, that and he is not great on draws.

I love making overly detailed predictions that certainly wil not come true.
Trade
Cammaleri + 28th (2013) ίΰ Heatley + 1st (2014) + 46th (2013) + Spurgeon
Tanguay ίΰ 35th (2013)
Sarich ίΰ 3rd (2014)
Retire - Kiprusoff
Don’t re-sign – Begin, Babchuck, Carson, Cameron, Patterson, Irving, Walter, Kolanos, Testwuide, Taylor
Draft – Lindholm, Gauthier, McCarron, Pesce, Vannelli, Cammantra, Geersten, Husso, Olufsson, (after the first four I really just picked names off a list, I have no idea, But Vannelli & Geersten because we could use big right handed Dmen ins the system, Husso cause I like Finish Goaltenders, and Cammantra because I’m a fan of high risk-reward picks in late rounds).
Sign – Ramo (2 x $1.75), Knight (2 x $.955), Backlund (3 x $2.2M), McGrattan (2 x $.75M), Butler (2 x $1.25M), Brodie (4 x $2.75M), Cundari (2 x $.9), Neimsz, Lamb, Aliu, Bouma, Bancks, Byron, Breen. (although I would not re-sign Byron)
FA – Handzus (1 x $4.5M), Boyes (1 x $1.5M), Leopold (2 x $2.5M), Ferrence (3 x $1.75), Anthony Stewart, Saggitini (AHL deal), Gilroy (AHL deal).
NHL
The “H” Line: Heatley – Handzus – Hudler
The “B” Line: Beartschi – Backlund – Boyes
The “S” Line: Glencross – Stajan – Stempniak
Rookie Line: Bouma – Knight – Horak
Energy Line: McGrattan – Reinhart – Jackman
Giordano – Leopold
Brodie – Wideman
Butler – Ferrence
Smith – Spurgeon
Ramo
McDonald
Berra
Farm System
Bancks – Byron – Stewart
Hanowski – Granlund – Aliu
Ferrland – Jones – Street
Elson – Neimsz – Eddy
Condari – Ramage
Breen – Lamb
Wotherspoon – Saggitini
Martin – Gilroy
Ortio
Bressoit
Unsigned Players in Development Leagues
Gaudreau – Jankowski – Lindholm
Agostino – Gauthier – McCarron
Gordon – Arnold – Cammantra
Larson – Deblouw
Sieloff – Pesce
Culkin – Geertsen
Kulak – Vannelli
Oulfsson
Gillies
Husso
Some Good things I would see with this roster
4 open contract spots.
5 rookies on the NHL list.
Cap Space
More balanced roster in terms of, Size, Skill Set, Age, Experience, Handedness.
Already holding 9 draft picks for next season including an extra 1st and an extra 3rd.
Adding a proven winner like Ferrence to the leadership group.
Bad things I would see with this roster
Lack of pure hockey tallent
Average age might actually go up.
limited opportunity for you D-men (Cundari, Breen, Ramage) to get NHL minutes.
Actively shop through-out the season Heatley, Handzus, Boyes, Stempniak, Leopold, and Butler. Hopefully you can hit a home run with some desperate team, who needs warm bodies and a 3rd line upgrade. But I think it is important to start the season with those guys and present some semblance of competitiveness.

That seems to be a common reason to switch out of centre. If memory serves, Cammalleri and Tanguay were drafted as centres and converted to wing. Granted, both of them have been tried in those positions in Calgary, so even Burmistrov's mediocre face off skills will be good enough for the Flames.
Again though, I don't think it hurts to stock up on players who can play in bottom 6 forward positions if that's the best we can get for Cammalleri. If memory serves, both Burmistrov and Knight have played on the wings before...so there can be a bit of competition for their natural position.

I took your commef he can play RWnts as saying Burmi couldn't hold down an NHL roster spot. If we acquired him and moved him to the wing I would be more than happy with that if he is capable of playing RW

Forwards:
Sven-Backlund-Nichushkin
Hudler-Stajan-Tuomo Ruutu
Glencross-Knight-Peter Mueller
Bouma-Reinahrt-Horak
Defence:
Brodie-Myers
Hainsey-Wideman
Breen-Cundari
Goaltenders:
Karri Ramo
Reto Berra
Traded Cammallerri, Stempniak and the fifth round pick to BUF for Tyler Myers
Tanguay to Florida for the rights to Peter Mueller
Giordano to Carolina for Tuomo Ruutu and a '14 third round pick.
And signed Ron Hainsey to a three year deal for nine million total.
Assuming that most RFA's under the Flames' tent will be re-signed.
Other possibilities include Stajan going to Florida in addition for the rights to Stven Weiss.
Or they sign Filppula and move off Stajan for another piece. Would also like to see but didn't include deals for players like Burmistrov or Blake Wheeler. And maybe, just maybe a deal for Niklas Hjallmerrson (SP?).

Reading over the post, my ordering was all over the place on that post. It was Knight's current ability I am unsure on and acquiring Burmistrov doesn't seem redundant for me since it's within reasonable possibility that Knight isn't capable of taking the job.
