Well PHI has to make some moves whether it be compliance buyout or trades.

Well, if you believe the rumors, they're going to clear a shade over $12 million buy utilizing compliance buy outs on Briere and Brygalov.

Crazy expensive Flyers D.
Timmonen - $6,000,000
Coburn - $4,500,000
Meszaros - $4,000,000
Schenn - $3,600,000
Grossman - $3,500,000
$21.6 million right there, plus now you have to figure to add another $5 million or so because of this Streit signing.
Not to mention Pronger's $4.9+ on the LTIR.
Crazy, I'm sure we will be seeing at least one of Mezsaros and/or Grossman dealt this off-season.

I believe in the Jays.

This will turn out poorly for them. Geez, 4 years... Streit isn't exactly a spring chicken.

I'd bet on Mezsaros before Grossman.

I'd be open to getting Mezaros for cheap if I were Feaster

So he's signed until he's 39?
Can't see this turning out well for the Flyers.

Yeah, if I was Feaster I'd be on the phone inquiring about the availability/cost of acquiring any one of Coburn, Meszaros and Grossman.
I'm sure many GM's will be though, or likely already have.

Not that many... I mean how many teams have the cap space, the budget, the desire to spend both on a defenseman, the lack of any other prioity signings (I mean it's one thing to have cap space... it's another to have cap space with 8 spots left to fill).

Agreed, the cap dropping has changed the playing field this off-season, no doubt.
There are still easily 6-10 teams with the cap space and/or budgets to add a $4 million or so defenseman to their roster without too much trouble.
Isles, Sens, Panthers, Preds, Oilers, Stars come to mind, plus probably a few others as well.

You have to admit being a Flyers fan means there's never a dull offseason as they are always making changes.

One rumour on price floating around is $22mil. If true, that's nuts!

Not really. I mean i would never want the flames to pay that, but it was written that he wanted at least $5 million. He turned down $4.75 million, so there was little chance that he was going to sign for anything under $5 milllion.

$5.4 million cap hit on a 35+ contract with a 4 year term?
Better hope he stays healthy, cause that cap hit isn't going anywhere.

If it;s 4 years 22 million, man alive are the Flyers nuts. I like them because they trade on a whim and pull off all the big moves but lately these deals are blowing up in their face.
Congrats on the Retirement contract Streit.

Probably see them trade Meszaros/Grossman and buy out Bryz + Briere, that'll open up a ton of cap space.

If Streit's contract is indeed $5.4 per, that puts the Flyers at $27 million for 6 defensmen....not including Pronger's LTIR hit.
No way in hell they don't move a d-man somewhere this off season.
They really should have just re-signed Carle last off-season. He signed for $5.5 on the open market, and is 7 years younger than Streit.

It's expensive and not even that good. That's the saddest part.
