Default Another suspicious package?

This one at old City Hall.

Quote:
Police have cordoned off the area around old City Hall as they investigate a suspicious package left outside the building.

Northbound Macleod Trail between Ninth Avenue and Seventh Avenue S.E. is closed. Police are also taping off streets around the city buildings.

LRT service at both eastbound and westbound City Hall stations at Macleod Trail and Third Street S.E has been suspended while police continue their investigation.

The people caught for these antics need to have the book thrown at them regardless of what the package ends up being or how dangerous. Bringing sections of the city to a hault is no small crime IMO.

I told Bunk bringing his lunch in a pressure cooker wasn't a good idea.

One in downtown Winnipeg currently as well, at Winnipeg Square (basically the corner of Portage and Main). Evacuations in that and adjoining buildings.

Both packages (Calgary and Winnipeg) discovered at 7:40 AM local time. Connection?

I have no idea how you could possibly derive a connection between two packages found in two cities an hour apart.

At most, the only connection is that this is part of a spate of copycat incidents and fall out from the Boston bombings. Morons who think it is funny to leave suspicious packages around.

It's probably just an inside job so that the CPS reaches their bomb budget for the fiscal year.

You apparently don't watch enough Homeland. Everything is connected...

That's why I put that squiggly line thing after the word connection. It was meant to denote a querying tone, suggesting a possibility may exist. I think you're probably right, and there is no connection, but who knows.

I think we both agree, morons who do crap like this should be locked up for a very long time.

I think that if we catch the person doing this that creative sentencing should apply.

Lots of camp toilets in Banff that need emptying and scrubbin.

Especially in the middle of July

That's what they reported on 660 News. Just a bag of clothes from a homeless person

Looks like everyone is overreacting to unattended bags since the Boston bombing...

Queue the "better be safe than sorry" crowd.

Whatever happened to that bomb scare a couple days ago anyways?

It wasn't a bomb, but it was made to look like one:
Quote:
But more than 24 hours after a suspicious item triggered the mass evacuation of Calgary’s downtown courts centre, investigators determined the wallet-sized package had no potential to explode.
Still, police spokesman Kevin Brookwell said the elements of an improvised explosive device — batteries, wires and an unspecified solid substance — were found inside a bag going through the courts centre’s airport-style security machine.
“There was nothing legitimate looking about this,” Brookwell told reporters at Calgary Police Service headquarters on Thursday.
“This was handmade, not something you buy off the shelf.”
The situation escalated, he continued, when the male suspect denied association with the package, under questioning.

Calgary police say they're investigating a suspicious package at Brentwood LRT in Calgary and asking everyone to stay out of the area.

Probably just a students lunch bag.
(Do students bring lunches anymore?)

Crowfoot station is also closed because of a another package. Crowfoot is a toolbox, Brentwood is a pressure cooker.
