Default Dermatologist in Calgary or Airdrie

Hello CP! I am in need of a dermatologist, and am wondering if there is one in Calgary or Airdrie that someone could recommend. I looked online and it seems every dermatologist has mixed reviews or just specializes in cosmetics. Any idea?

Dr Kent Remington. One of the best, if not the best in the City.

I know his son, Todd Remington. They both work at the same office and I'd recommend them both although you may need a doctor's referral.

For anything serious, I'd recommend Dr. Arlette at the Total Skincare Centre, located at Bow Trail and 45th St. SW.

Don't you need a doctor referral for any dermatologist?

Do you just go to your family doc and say "Hey I heard this guy is good, can you refer me to him"?

This is a legitimate question. I always thought you needed a referral for stuff like that.

Yes, I believe you need a referral from your GP for something that requires medical attention, like skin cancer for example, and you can ask to be referred to a specific dermatologist. However in my experience, once you have received service from a particular dermatologist, I believe you can rebook with that dermatologist within a certain period of time, without a referral.

I'll also echo the recommendations for the Remington family. You need doctor's referral though; it usually takes a 3 or 4 months to get in.

Make sure to avoid the deteremotlogy clinic in the Market Mall professional building (Dermatology Associates). The doctors and staff there are absolutely horrendous.

Just tell your doctor you want a referral to see Dr Kent Remington. Even if you have to wait a couple months, you won't regret his work. He's the best.

I second this. I went to the maket mall dermitologist and will never go back. I would compare it to going to a mechanic that's not interested in looking at your car. Maybe it's just the one doctor, but not worth a second try.

He seems to get very poor ratings by his clients on the rate a doctor site.

Ratings for doctors really only rate their personality.
