Default NBA tries to end costly ABA deal

Not getting any talk in the other sports forum so thought I'd bring it in here since I think this is pretty interesting.

I guess I can tie it into hockey by saying, imagine if the NHL did this to a WHA owner when the NHL scooped up four of their teams?

Granted, the TV rights wouldn't be as much as the NBA's, but it'd still be a nice chunk of change.

Last season, the Silnas, who bought the Carolina Cougars for $1 million in 1973 before moving the club to St. Louis, received a reported $19 million from the NBA.
Since the deal was reached in 1976, the league has paid the Silnas $300 million in TV royalties. Recently, a judge ruled that the brothers also have rights to Internet revenue
Not a bad deal. I wouldn't want to settle at all. Set up my family for generations in perpetuity.

There is a great 30 for 30 on this:

I wonder what the number the NBA is offering them? Anything less than an opening bid of $1 Billion would be a joke. I can't see that family giving up this deal. It could be passed on to their heirs and so on.

I would be curious to know how "internet revenue" is defined in that judgement. I can easily see online broadcasting as included. Website revenue, e.g. advertising, seems to be beyond the scope of the original deal.
