WonderFlex Material (Cosplay/OtaFest)
For those of you who went to OtaFest this long weekend, what kind of Materials did you use to make your Costume?
I've tried everything from cardboard to chicken wire for this thing I'm trying to do and have failed miserably becaue its either to heavy or its just not very appealing to me. Here's what I plan on doing, I already have everything else but just need to make the Fly Trap.
What from I can see, most cosplay costumes use this WonderFlex Material, just wondering if I am able to get this stuff here in Calgary somewhere like Micheal's or Home Depot?

There are probably better places to ask this than CalgaryPuck, like the Otafest forums or Otafest Facebook page. But who knows, maybe the CP oracle will suprise me.

According to this, you'll have to order online -

Where can I buy Wonderflex?
Wonderflex is available through very few distributors. You can’t buy it from Wallmart, Home Hardware/Depot, or any commercial store.
The main distributor (I.E. the person everyone purchases their Wonderflex from to re-sell) is Dazian. If you can physically get to their East or West coast stores (Secaucus, NJ and North Hollywood, CA) you can purchase from them and see their finished examples. You can purchase through their website as well, though you need a credit card.
Another option is Dani at Cosplaysupplies.com. His prices are higher, but if you don’t live in the US, shipping from Dani ensures that your *shipping* costs are the lowest possible, as Wonderflex can be expensive to ship, and Dani has been working with different companies for the lowest transport prices possible. He accepts paypal, (Dazian is credit only) and if you don’t need a full sheet, Dani will cut to any specification- 1/3, 1/4, 1/2, 1/8, and send small ‘sample pieces’ a little larger than a sheet of legal paper. So if you’re working on a smaller project, he’s definitely the way to go.

The Costume Guild, which is a Calgary based group of costumers, uses Dazian, according to google and their page.
How was it? My daughter went on Friday and was supposed to go yesterday, but she was too sick. She's planning her outfit for next year, and we've never heard of this stuff until you asked (and I googled) so we'll probably end up buying some too. What did you dress as this year?

Yeah I know, thought I'd give CP a try and see if anybody's used this stuff on here.

I ended up not dressing up as it was kind of a last minute decision for me. Through, I'll definitely dress up the next time Otafest comes to town.. But if I can get this thing done on time, tell your daughter you know a guy from CP who will probably be dressed up like the picture shown above.. haha.
