Default Removing fluoride from water supply has increased cavities in kids

So say local dentists. Was it a mistake to end fluoridation of our water?

We took the Fluoride out of the water? Sounds expensive. Why?

Shortly after the 2010 election Druh did the math and figured out she could get it through council. It worked.

This is probably the biggest issue I don't see eye to eye with her on.

No numbers given at all. Is someone tracking this or is it purely annecdotal?

What do you mean sounds expensive?

They pay to put in Fluoride, not take it out.

As the article states, they save $750,000 by taking it out. Which is probably a drop in the bucket when you consider the government will pay for a lot of the dental work for low income families.

Ok well this is dumb.

I don't have an issue with fluoride in the water and it does help

But kids get cavities not because of no fluoride but because of their diet.

SIMPLE

You know how in your ECS yearbook everyone is asked questions like: What is your dream job? Or, If you had one wish, what would it be?

My friends wish was wanting to put fluoride in the water supply so everybody could have strong teeth.

I'd argue that kids get cavities not because of their diet but because of their dental hygiene habits.

I think they both are part of the problem

I would rather my water source be pure water with no additives in it. There are other methods of taking care of the fluoride if you'd like that have it, rather than having it forced into our water supply.

There's been talks of numerous health issues with fluoride as well.

As I understand it, putting the fluoride back would cost a lot more that $750,000 a year. The facilities are no longer designed for it.

What crap reporting. No statistics on cavities. One anecdote from a dentist.

From the floride research I have read Floride is a much more long term effect so two years wouldn't show much impact. I suspect this is closer to the placebo affect then an actual measuralbe affect at this point.

Also when he states that tooth decay in children is 100% preventable it still is. It just takes good oral care. Floride helps but the underlying cause of tooth decay is and has always been poor oral hygene

That would be a terrible argument. Teeth are decayed because of the choices we make when eating. All the sugar and junk we eat and drink is the biggest problem with decaying teeth.

Look at places that are dirt poor who have people who rarely if ever eat sugar. They usually have nice teeth even if they don't brush.

Africa refutes your argument

Beep beep beep beep

Conspiracy theorist detected.

I love how all these hilariously bad misinformation sites don't understand dosage.
