Default Animal Crossing Signs

So I've noticed there are three different styles for these signs around Calgary:

Does each have a different meaning? Or are they just from different eras?

Personally I'd be stunned if they had different meanings

I think that several of these should be moved somewhere else or removed completely. Many of these are in very dangerous spots to have deer crossings.

One of them is representing the heterosexual population.

My parents and I noticed the same thing in New Brunswick. Some signs had moose leisurely crossing while others had moose downright charging across the road. We saw a moose leisurely crossing shortly after a moose charing sign so I guess there;s not much of a difference. Not that this has anything to do with Calgary.

On my first foray into Canada, seeing the third one made me laugh. It looks more like a fat Jack Russell Terrier with an pair of antlers tied on.

Sorry I have to share for the enjoyment of those who haven't heard it.

I know the 3rd one has been around for a while. When I was a kid I used to comment that deer go up in Manitoba (first or second sign) across in Saskatchewan and then down in Alberta.

Saskatchewan sign:

Of course my dad tried to tell me the Alberta sign had them going down as they often fall off the mountains.

The material that sticks to the metal has about 3 manufacturers and 3 suppliers fighting for the business.

There is 3M and the other two each with a little different look. You would think it would be the same like all other signage but it wasn't.
