Really cool Star Wars discovery
For some reason, I was kind of moved when I saw these pictures - a photographer discovered the set of Tatooine.
Scroll through the images at the top to see them all:

I thought they went back to the original set when they filmed the prequels. Looks like they haven't been touched since filming episode 6, back in the 80s.
Such a shame.

There was a recent Museum Secrets episode that high-lighted the restored sets.

I'd love to buy that area, because people would pay a fortune to bone in Luke Skywalkers house. She could whine about going to Toshi station, he could state that he is her father. Then when their done she could declare it was wizard while he lit a cigarette and declared that this was pod racing.

They probably figured that the weather would take care of them quickly enough.

As the comments on the story point out, it's not really accurate to call this a "discovery". It's pretty much a discovery in the same way that I "discovered" the Eiffel Tower when I went to Paris. It's one of the main things tourists travel to that part of Tunisia to see.
Also, I believe those are the remains of the sets used for Episode II in 2000-01, not from the original filming in the 1970s. From what I recall, when they went back to shoot the prequels, Lucas agreed to leave the sets in tact because the area had become such a tourist destination, and people were disappointed that there wasn't more to see from the movies.
Also, Captain, the underground house scenes from the homestead were shot in a hotel, so you could totally bone in Luke's bedroom. It doesn't have the greatest reviews, though: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Revi...vernorate.html

^ It doesn't really matter what you consider a discovery. One good use of a title is to draw attention to the contents, which is why the word discovery was used. No harm no foul. And yes, I read the exact same commentary that you read (before I posted the title).

I'm thinking there has to be a business for building a rent by the hour star wars themed hotel.
You could totally have a cantina, some of the people wouldn't even need makeup.
then its up to Leia's prison cell, or the Emperor's throne room on the death Star
Or get your thing on it the cockpit of a tie fighter with a girl dressed as a Taun Taun.

not really sure what i expected when i came into this thread; however, i was treated to some of the fine CP brand of humour - leaving thread unexpectedly satisfied......
I thought perhaps this set would be a good place to shoot an adult feature; however, i then thought about how many problems all that sand would cause......

I love hotel reviews. They are refreshingly brutal.
