I did this one in my first apartment. It was a small place.

I would assume that it breaks the surface tension of the foam at the top of the pan, thus preventing the foam from spilling over the sides?
Not sure.

These are pretty cool. Now if only my brain can remember to apply them when needed.

I'm trying that toothpaste on headlights since nothing else has worked.

I go through these once a year and remember 1 maybe 2 to apply to my daily activities.

if you have an electric polisher, you can also use some polish to help clear this issue up.

Funny enough, I've done this. However, I have no idea how it ever could make a difference. The pizza box is too stiff to touch very much of the seat. The cardboard acts as as an insulator for what parts actually do touch, and the parts of the box that touch the seat are probably the edges of the box where there isn't any pizza anyway.
You'd be much better off throwing a jacket on top of the pizza box while you drive home. The pizza probably cools off more in the second it takes you to activate the switch then the heat it would gain from the seat warmer.

Basically the same as the toothpaste, the toothpaste works because it is a mild abrasive, fine enough to polish.

Some of those are definitely cool.
I had a book with stuff like this in it that pre-dated the internet. In fact, I think some of these tips are straight from that.
Also, I think this just changed my life:

If you put ~tsp of oil in the water it won't boil over. I cook pasta on full all the time with no problems.
Where did I learn this? Fez from that 70s show
