They've just moved everyone away from the park across the street with the 13 bison where the evacuees usually hang out and sip their Starbucks.

Your damn building is blocking my view from my office in Scotia - can see 6th Ave and 5th St.

Likely has something to do with that strike happening, I would think.

No doubt it's strike related. Some genius union rabble rouser to be sure.

Hope it gets rectified quickly, and with no injuries to any involved. It really GMG when first responders have to put themselves in harm's way to deal with strike related garbage like this.

Jumping to conclusions there a bit, chief?

Don't use this thread to vent about unions. Just wait until the facts come out.

I do appologize and have put a request in with our Office Services group to have the building moved.

Anyways...still lots of police around but no frantic movement or anything, lots of standing around...I guess that can be taken as a good sign.

Obviously we don't know at this point if this is related to the illegal strike or not, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility and worthy of discussion I would think.

A thread like this is prime for us to speculate on what it could or could not be. I agree with that, however, to assume the following to be fact, based on no facts at all:

Actually Kavy, that is quite obviously a statement of opinion rather than a statement of fact.

The suspect, (who has been in custody this entire time), is currently being checked by the CFD HazMat team.

Hasn't the strike been over since last night anyway? Why would this be related now?

You're kidding, right? The very fact that the union honchos agreed to go back to work could be enough to convince some hard-liner that this is the right course of action.

Apparently in my earlier post I should have quoted Rathji, as my post was intended to be opinion, not fact, just like his was. Now, I happen to believe that it is opinion supported by past precendence and the current circumstances, but it is opinion nonetheless.

Kavy, being anti-union is just as valid a position as being pro-union. Governments and employers get accused of all sorts of shady and downright illegal activities in any strike, but the workers are not all clean and pure at heart as you'd like to believe. Given the timing, it's not unreasonable to believe this act is strike related. Perhaps my use of "no doubt" without the qualifying statement of "in my mind" was in error, but I don't believe it renders my opinion as "######ed".
