2013 Hall of Fame class
This is being announced tomorrow, and some very big names are eligible for the first time this year. Among them, legendary former Flames Roman Turek, Shean Donovan, Dean McAmmond and Stephane Yelle.

For first timers, I'd think Chelios and Niedermayer are locks. Shanahan makes it in this time? Pretty wide open as to who the fourth could be.

Blake would be a lock for me.
Niedermayer, Chelios, Blake, Shanahan would be my 4.

I'd like to see Zubov get in, he was tremendous and very under-rated in many aspects of the game...I don't see him beating out anyone listed by OilFan, though

Dan Cloutier!
I would like to see Kariya get in eventually. Guy would have been one of the best players of his generation (on Sakic/Yzerman level) if not for that vicious Gary Suter cross check.
Even with all the injury issues he was able to average a PPG for his career.

I think Rob Blake is a shoe in too, JMO though.

This.
Honourable mentions to Brind'Amour and Kariya.
...and Shean Donovan for most unsuccessful breakaways in NHL history.

I can't see Blake this year. Nor Tkachuk or Brind'Amour. Personally, I think Chelios and Niedermayer as first timers, and Shanahan and Andreychuk as the other two.
Not sure if Pat Burns as well. I can't remember if it is four selections total, or four player selections, with builders held separate.

I would think Kariya, Tkachuk, Niedermayer, and my most hated Blackhawk of all time, Chelios (I felt his indiscipline and selfishness cost a chance at the Cup in 1992, and his play was overrated for years after that).

I could see it just being Niedermayer, Chelios, Shanahan, and then a couple Women's hockey players get it as well. Dunno if anyone in their year of eligibility should get in on their first year, although maybe Andreychuk finally gets in.

Off topic, but I loved that '92 series ... The most memorable aspect for me is the impacts made by Ulf Samuelsson and Brian Marchment...2 of the most hated players ever.

Are there really silly factors like that?...or is it just the 4 best guys get in?...does it factor in how long someone has been out of the game?

Mike Vernon should be in the Hall.

The selection committee is made up of 18 men and the process is secret. Silly factors are very often what determines who gets in. And I pretty much think Blake will miss out this year because of funny games. They might not see his career as a "first ballot guy". They'll want to get Shanahan in there, and I think making Andreychuk wait five years is long enough.
I could be wrong, but for player inductees, I think the rules are up to four men and two women. Other than James and Granato a few years ago though, the Hall as declined to name any other female players.

I feel Cujo, Lindros and Carbonneau should get in there somehow, as well.

I wonder how many goalies make it in without winning a Vezina? He did win a Conn Smythe and a Jennings. We'll see.

2 Cup rings
1 Conn Smythe
Played in 4 Cup finals
5 All-star games
1 Jennings
385 Wins
He was also the best goalie outside of Roy and Fuhr (IMO) that played in both the high scoring 80's and the low scoring 90's.
I'm a big Vernon fan and would love for this to happen, but sadly, I don't think it will.

Going back to the 50's or so there has only been three:
Vladislav Tretiak, Gerry Cheevers, Chuck Rayner (won the Hart but not a Vezina)
