When you see a clip of Ovi like we did recently just coasting on the backcheck without a care in the world it's tough to think he could be the MVP this season. If Sid doesn't miss as much time this isn't even a debate, he wins in a landslide. For me it's Crosby vs. Tavares, and it's a toss up. I think Sid takes it, but I'd like to see Tavares win.

Ovechkin.

Too bad his heart shrivelled up in the playoffs.

Too bad playoffs don't count, ya I know, thanks tips.

It should go to Tavares. He pretty much put the Islanders on his back and took them to the playoffs.

No Jonathan Toews??

Haha Ovechkin named Hart Trophy finalist. Despite playing 48 games this season, he only showed up for about 18 of them!

Sid shouldn't win it. The team still racks up the wins without him so it would be hard to argue he is the most valuable to his team. However, take Ovechkin and Tavares out and you have completely different teams. I'm on the Tavares end. Tavares dragged his team kicking and screaming to the last playoff spot, while Ovechkin is surrounded by other elite talent.

JT for me.

All former 1st overall picks

I think its a toss up between all 3, I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them win it. Personally I'd like to see Tavares get it

I have a hard time picking Ovechkin given his indifference at times.

Tavares or Crosby.

I don't think it will be Crosby. He missed way to many games and his team won without him anyways.

Would go with Crosby if not for the injury. Tavares though deserves to win, taking that train wreck team back to the playoffs and gaining back some respectability is no small feat.

Who would you replace with Toews? He was great this season but not any better than the nominees IMO

Tavares. What he did is even more impressive when you consider the players around him. No where close to the talent of the Pens or Capitals.

What a joke Toews isn't there.

These sports writers need to stay up a couple extra hours and watch a ####ing game from the West.

Tavares deserves to be on the list and I think he'll win.

Ovechkin is arguable.

Crosby, IMO missed too many games. You're most valuable to your team when you're healthy and playing. I can see why he was nominated for sure but don't think he'll win.

Best Player - Crosby
Most Valuable Player - Tavares

Hart gets messy but going with the true definition of most valuable player to his team, Tavares is easily my vote.

I'm an Ovechkin fan but his goals came when Green returned to the lineup and when Oates finally put Backstrom/AO together. To start the season it was Ovechkin and Ribeiro and it wasn't working.

You think Ovechkin was more valuable? I saw Holtby and Mike Green sort their games out coincidently at the same time AO did. I don't buy that he got that team into the playoffs on his own.

The award goes to the goal scorers. Toews did that and more.
