I remember on that 1000 ways to die TV show, there was a particularily horrible one where a man fell into an industrial tumble dryer and it locked shut and nobody realized he was inside.

Norm!
Not to make light because that would be pretty horrible.
But I would think that
being broken on the wheel
Or cooked in the brass bull
Or the slow impalement practiced by Vlad Tempest
Or crucifiction would all take longer and were designed to be the worst deaths possible.

Reminds me of the guy in Season One of Six Feet under who dies in the bread maker.
This one below is my favorite of the funny death scenes in Six Feet Under.

The upside down saw one is pretty horrible.
Also keeps the blood flowing to your brain so you stay conscious as long as possible.

They haven't removed him from the machine yet, he's a little al dente.

Slow slicing was pretty brutal until abolished in 1905 also. At least the pasta machine was probably a quick death.
