Grades
Season's over, wasn't good at least we started moving out the old and trying some youth. Lets rate their seasons.
Forwards
Cammalleri - 44gp, 13g, 32p, -15. He was up and down early in the year but really showed some leadership with all the younger guys coming up. Point totals are there. Grade: B- 13/14 Status -> Trade
Stampniak - 47gp, 9g, 32p, +2. Played really well at home and disappeared on the road, showed good chemistry with whoever he was put with. Good secondary player. Grade: B 13/14 Status -> Keep
Tanguay - 40gp, 11g, 27p, -13. Good start to the year but tailed off in the end. Tried after the deadline but just not the player he used to be. Grade: C 13/14 Status -> Trade/Buyout
Hudler - 42gp, 10g, 27p, -13. Showed some flashes, hockey smarts and the system he came from. Good secondary piece. Grade: B- 13/14 Status -> Keep
Glencross - 40gp, 15g, 26p, -8. Inconsistent, like Stampniak he wasn't visible on the road. Had some really good games at home, especially that hattrick game with a sore wrist. Grade: B- 13/14 Status -> Trade if he agrees
Stajan - 43gp, 5g, 23p, +7. If all our other players played as hard as he did we would be a playoff team. I hope other teams see that and try to acquire him, he's a good piece for a winning team. Grade: B+ 13/14 Status -> Trade
Cervenka - 39gp, 9g, 17p -13. Needs to work on his defensive game if he wants to play in this league, but quite impressed with his points total with limited ice-time. Grade: C+ - 13/14 Status -> Keep
Backlund - 32gp, 8g, 16p, -6. Elevated his game when given the ice-time. One of the bright spots down the stretch. Just needs more consistency and he'll be a top 6 forward here for a long time. Grade: B+ 13/14 Status -> Keep
Baertschi - 20gp, 3g, 10p, Even. His struggles at the beginning of the year are well documented but he came back as a different player. He's going to be good. Grade: B+ 13/14 Status -> Keep
Begin - 36gp, 4g, 8p, -2. Couldn't have expected anything more from Begin. Grade: A 13/14 Status -> Keep
Horak - 20gp, 2g, 7p, -5. Needs to get stronger, overall hes shown he can play in this league. Grade: B 13/14 Status -> Keep
Jackman - 42gp, 1g, 5p, -9. Wasn't impressed by him this year. Grade: C 13/14 Status -> Trade
McGratton - 19gp, 3g, 3p, 04. Provided enforcement and chipped in couple goals. The salute will be one of the highlights of this season. Grade: A 13/14 Status -> Keep
Rest of the forwards are incomplete.
Defensemen
Wideman - 46gp, 6g, 22p, -9. Really improved the PP but is not very good defensively. Kind of expected season from him. Grade: B- 13/14 Status -> Keep
Giordano - 47gp, 4g, 15p, -7. Struggled early in the year but played well when the pressure was off. Should not be played as a top pair, good 2nd pair dman. Grade: C+ 13/14 Status -> Keep
Brodie - 47gp, 2g, 14p, -9. His age and experienced showed early in the year with some glaring mistakes but he's been able to clean them up. Played well down the stretch now time to see if he can do it over a full year against top lines. Grade: B+ 13/14 Status -> Keep
Butler - 44gp, 1g, 8p, -10. Not impressed at all, almost every time he was on the ice something bad almost happened or did happen. Grade: C- 13/14 Status -> Trade/Walk
Sarich - 28gp, 0g, 2p, -8. Body is too beat up. I think Sarich should look at early retirement this summer like his buddy Rhett did. Grade: C 13/14 Status -> Retire
Smith - 22gp, 0g, 1p, -5. He showed why he shouldn't be a top 6 dman. Grade: C- 13/14 Status -> Trade/Waive
Goalies
Mikka - 3.44gaa, .882sv%, 8 wins. Not a good year at all. Lets see if he retires but one of the greatest Flames ever. Grade: D 13/14 Status -> Retire
MacDonald - 2.87gaa, 0.902sv%, 8 wins. Decent backup. Grade: B 13/14 Status -> Keep
Irving/Taylor - AHLers, waive or don't re-sign.

Trade Brodie? LOL...On a rebuilding team?
And who's going to play for this team after all your trades?

Trade Brodie? No thanks
As for forwards why would you trade the only player that has a bit of size and grit (Glencross) and keep a player that is soft and has no grit ( Cervenka)?

This team will have trouble reaching the cap floor if Kipper retires. We shouldn't be buying anyone out.
You can't just run a team of sub 23 year olds. Players like Glencross need to stay.

Cammy - $6.0 mil
Tanguay - $3.5 mil
Stajan - $3.5 mil
Glencross - $2.55 mil
Sarich - $2.0 mil
Kipper - $5.8 mil
We would have about $40 million in cap space after all these trades/retirements, depending on what comes back.

I'd love to see Glencross moved, he could fetch a wonderful futures package at the draft!!

Other than Glencross i don't see any team giving up picks, with no money coming back, for the rest of the "meh" players. Maybe Cammi but the flames would have to eat $2 million. Considering they would not eat money on JBO, i have my doubts they would eat money on Cammi.

But the worst part is, they can't even lose properly. They screwed up their best chance for a #1 pick by deciding to win games at the end of the season.
They can't win, they can't draft worth a damn, and now they can't even bloody lose. The more things change, the more they stay the same old Shames.

How do you trade players that are UFA. Nobody is going to trade for the right to talk to them a few days early. These are terrible rankings.

The only UFA's listed are Cervenka, McGrattan and Begin who he says to keep.

Which one brainiac? Butler is an RFA, sign and trade him or jus let him walk.

Glencross brings good value for his contract. He's not a player you actively shop just to unload him. If another team offers a great package for the guy, only then do you move him.
I don't know why you'd bring back Begin, either. His spot should go to Bouma, Bancks or someone of that ilk.

Get rid of Glencross for some futures as well as Cammalleri.
Why not Gio as he could bring in a 1st round pick as well?
If we are lucky and draft well in 3 or 4 years we could be in the same position the Oilers are in today.

You are bang on. 1st round picks on this board are over rated. The logic behind some of the ideas is like "why don't we trade Cammi for a 1st round pick?! If we're lucky, that pick will turn out to be as good as Cammi!"
