Default Shipping Options for Small Apartment From ON to AB

Hey guys,

does anyone have any experience or suggestions of the best shipment option for cross country moves?

I am moving back to Calgary in May, have divided my belongings into keepers, maybes, sellers, and garbage.

Now, I am looking for the best option to ship, and to see if bringing back my bed is economical or not.

Queensized bed and boxspring - 76x56x22 inchs - 100lbs
46in TV in box and padding - 65lbs
Large, color laser printer in box and padding - 45lbs
3 boxes of textbooks and notes at roughly a ft^3 each and 40lbs each

So far, the smaller items cost $40-60 each from greyhound, fedex, and purolater, while the tv box is up to $120.

Is there anything else that people use in terms of companies that may be better options?

Thank you in advance

Have you tried pods? I honestly don't know the costs involved, just throwing it out there.

Uhaul has these Ubox Moving pods. Not sure if the would be big enough for the bed but they might be worth a shot.

Where in Ontario are you? If it is a major centre, you might get lucky with a kijiji ad. There is one on the Ottawa kijiji where a guy is renting a moving truck and is looking for a passenger to split fuel costs and has room in the truck for a small move.

Obviously, you wouldn't give your TV to a stranger to "transport" for you.
