Jersey Ideas?
Hey Everyone,
I am visiting Calgary this summer, and I plan on buying a new flames jersey (the jersey I have now says Phaneuf on the back ).
Due to the current state of the team, I'm considering buying a proper retro jersey (either the home/away from 1989). While I have been a huge flames fan since '03, I haven't watched many of the older games (aside from a few final match ups).
Basically, I am between getting MacDonald, MacInnis, or Fleury on my jersey. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
(sorry for the bother, but if I plan on spending $200+ I want to get it "right")
Thanks

For starters, don't get 'MacDonald' on the jersey.

Others may be able to help you notre with the best places to go, but I reckon you are on the right track. You prefer home or away?

I'd suggest #7 Joey Mullen.

Edit: I suppose it would look a bit strange on a retro as he didn't play for us then, but if I were to ever get a name added to the back of my jersey, it'd be his.

Roberts, Nieuwendyk, Fleury, Suter would be class.
Not sure you'll find one made already though.
FYI the current Reebok third jerseys are 79.99 at Jersey City.

You might have a hard time finding a "proper retro" jersey, either white or red.
Ever since they started wearing the retro reds again in 2009-10, I don't think they make the CCM "Vintage" style ones anymore. They did sell the white retros for a few years too, but I don't think they sold that well. You'll probably have better luck finding one online from a store with old stock than you will finding one in Calgary.
The retro jerseys you're most likely to find in Calgary now are the new Reebok style jerseys, that aren't the same cut and style as what they wore in 1989.
You could go with a Reebok retro and get #55 Ramage on it. That would work for both Rob Ramage from the Cup team and John Ramage from the future (he wore #55 in College, and I assume will also wear it in Calgary/Abbotsford).

You can probably find a CCM "Vintage" Flames jersey (with 89 cup patch) in Calgary -- the Fan Attic was selling the white ones earlier in the year; I'm sure the red ones are also available at stores like Sport Chek, Pro Hockey Life, River City, etc. Of course, you can also find them online as well.
My only suggestion on getting it "right" -- because the CCM "Vintage" jerseys have the cup patch, pick a player that actually played in the Finals that year. Oh yeah, and it's "McDonald"
