Default 2013 Calgary Flames Playoff Odds

The hypothetical spot for 8th in the west this year is going to be near 54 points.

The Flames have currently played 34 games and have 30 points. In the 14 remaining games, the Flames will need a minimum of 24 points. That translates to a minimum of a 0.857 Point Percentage, or a 141 point pace over 82 games.

According to the current standings, this is how many games we play against each team.

Chicago 1
Anaheim 1
Minnesota 2
St. Louis 1
Detroit 1
Los Angeles 0
Vancouver 2
San Jose 1
---

Phoenix 1

Dallas 0
Edmonton 2
Nashville 1
Columbus 0
Colorado 1

If the current 8th placed team goes .500 the rest of the way, they will finish with 52 Points. The Flames need to go 11-2-1 (.821 pt %) to top that by 1 point.

They are done. Management can't come right out and say it, but they obviously know it, it doesn't take a genius to see it. If they don't make wholesale changes with an eye towards to the future in the next three weeks, I just don't know what they are thinking anymore.

Oh they're done, but Feaster is going to cling to the "games in hand, only X points out" mantra.

False. If you include both conferences then Florida is the only team below us.

Buffalo, Washington, Tampa and Florida are all below us if Colorado wins tonight.

The SE still sucks.

That would be awesome... If the Avs win, we'd be 15th in the west. I guess this is what management wants, that way when we claw our way up to 9th they can say "well they worked really hard but just fell short down the stretch. We feel we're only one more piece away and we'll be better next year!"

I was never convinced the Flames would make the playoffs this season but thought if a few players rebounded they had a shot. I am pretty surprised they are this bad though. I realize that they have a game at hand or two over some of the other cellar dwellers but the Flames have been keeping company at the bottom of the conference all season and that has to be really disappointing to management after signing guys like Hudler, Weideman, and Cervenka.

We're sitting at 5 points out, does anyone know the most points we were out last year?

I wonder what management would consider an insurmountable hole.

6 actually - SJ has at least a point.

Not sure if it got worse, but they were 9 out on Nov 26th

We are in last place in the West. Sucks to be us. On another note I am listening to teh San Jose feed of the COL/SJS game. Holy Monster truck announcer. Funny stuff.

We are now 6-points back with games in hand on only Vancouver (1) and St Louis (2). We have to pass 6 teams in front of us before we even get a chance at those guys.

6-points and 7-teams in 25-games is asking a lot from any team. Let alone a team that has just passed the easiest point in their schedule while playing the other teams back-up goalies every night and yet has still managed to dig themselves this hole.

We are a slim shot to get into 8th. If Feaster and company decide to gamble for a slim shot of getting into 8th then it might be time to start following baseball or checkers or something.
