Im hoping to see St.Louis cool off a bit today. At first I was afraid they would miss the playoffs, and now they seem to be playing a little too well.

I'll never get used to seeing Iginla in another jersey. I can't stand it.

Come on Florida and Colorado. You guys have had your share of high picks. Back when you were in Quebec Avs, you got three 1st overall picks in a row FFS. Let us have it for once.

The Avs don't only play the Kings, but are back-to-back and Sami Aittokallio gets his very first NHL start in net ... don't expect anything from the Avs tonight.

And that's how you clear the crease. Take note Flames. About 4 Lightning players couldn't get to the loose puck.

Yea, its just not working out and Geno really hasnt' been the same recently. I was big proponent of leaving "best line in hockey" alone, but Neal - Geno - Kunitz were most productive line last year and I think Sid pretty much works with anyone
I'm thinking I'd like to give
Dupuis - Sid - Iginla
Kunitz - Geno - Neal
a chance once Sid gets back...
Just a shame the Sid injury really prevents DB from having much time to find lines that gel

Panthers should have an easy win tonight even with spotting the pathetic Jets a goal.
I don't have much hope for the Avs even after their performance last night.

Malkin hasn't been the same all year according to Penguin fans. He's taking a lot of heat this season.

He started off slower (relative for him) at the start of the year then really seemed to be back to old Geno before he got hurt and hasn't been the same again once he came back.
He can be frustrating sometimes which is why I don't understand anyone when the Geno is better than Sid buzz starts. When Geno is "on" he may very well be the best player in the league, but he goes through up and downs... I can't even recall Crosby ever "not clicking"

I believe 2 people told me to post any Iginla stories from Pittsburgh. 2 minor ones came out.... 1 just a fluff "Feel good," 1 a little substance.
The first, apparently Pens are instructing Iggy to stop deferring and be a little more selfish (I agree)
Quote:
It remains to be seen if Evgeni Malkin, Jarome Iginla and Chris Kunitz will remain a line combination once injured stars Sidney Crosby and James Neal return to the lineup. One thing, though, is certain. Malkin and Kunitz want Iginla to play the role of trigger man as long as the trio remains together. Malkin and Kunitz spoke with Iginla before the Penguins played at Carolina on Tuesday, and the message was clear. They don't want Iginla deferring to anyone. “Kuny and ‘G' both talked to me,” Iginla said. “They said to shoot the puck.” Iginla forced a turnover in the third period against Carolina that led to Malkin's game-winner. The line was terrific during the final 20 minutes against the Hurricanes, nearly scoring on a couple of other occasions. Iginla had a chance to score on a rush but, instead, made one pass too many, surprising Kunitz with a feed. “Kuny gave me the look,” Iginla said. “I passed up a good one.” Still, Iginla feels like the line is on the verge of a breakout performance. “It started to feel a lot better there in the third period,” he said. “It's starting to come"
|
The second fluff story:
Quote:
Jarome Iginla could not believe his eyes.
While showing his family the inside of Consol Energy Center for the first time on Thursday afternoon, Iginla walked his kids down a hallway lined by large photographs of Penguins players, ranging from captain Sidney Crosby to fourth-line center Joe Vitale.
“We were just looking at the pictures on the way, and I'm, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, we're already up there,' ” Iginla said, referring to the framed photograph of him in a black Penguins home jersey. “I thought that was a pretty neat touch, to already be a part of it.”
Iginla had been in Pittsburgh less than a week.
The Penguins wasted no time trying to make Iginla's surroundings feel like home.
“They got my kids jerseys with my number (12) and name on the back, and stuffed animals — and my kids were so pumped,” Iginla said. “They were wearing those jerseys around everywhere, and they had hats. Now we're full Penguins fans.”
Iginla did not leave his only previous NHL home — Calgary, where he played for 16 seasons, including the last nine as Flames captain — so his children could get new gear and toys.
He agreed to waive a no-movement clause in his contract because he believes the Penguins, specifically because of Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the MVP last season, give him a chance to finally win the Stanley Cup.
“Players want to win,” Iginla said. “But those small things go a long way.”

Also, I apologize if I'm getting annoying with Penguins talk but Crosby made the trip to Tampa. Pens normally don't bring players to road trips if they aren't at least skating with the team. Pens play at the Panthers on Saturday.... so some speculation Crosby might begin to at least start skating with the team this trip
