and who do you HATE dealing with? why? what makes a good dealer and what makes a poor dealer?
Slow reactions, back and forth, impossible demands?
Let it all hang out here...no holds barred!

The most frustrating for me is the 'Nickle and Dimer's'. The deal is basically done and then, wait just a second there Chippy, 4th's and 5th's and AHLers start getting added in. Before you know it the deal is totally diffrent. Noobs fall for it all the time.

I was always nervous dealing with Johnny Flame. Dude was such a shrewd dealer that I'd always be 2nd guessing if I was getting killed on a deal or not. And there's a good chance I was.

I cannot tell a lie:
- MJK and I have different values and philosiphies for each of our teams, and that makes it next to impossible to deal with each other. And yet, we still try.
- 2 Agents are held in high regards in Nord-land, 1 is a penny pincher, and one is loosing more and more respect in the game (no where else) as we go on. I know for a fact I offered more money for a player, and was forced to trade him cause his asking price was too high, and didn't seem to be on it's way down.
- It's hard to make a deal when it comes to running an Expansion team, but I find dealing with LA very enjoyable, and I was surprised with how easy dealing with Tranny was. I was getting ready to bend over and grab my ankles in the Sykora deal, but we found mutual ground.
- Goffe, I got your PM... we'll talk!

I love dealing with Grant, Becky, Sandra, Ryan, Jeff and Mike W.
Drunk is pretty easy going as well. As is Kris, and Mike I.
The FLA, PIT, and PHI GM's are also pretty fair.
Those guys are always the easiest!!
And then there is Matt. Who ever thought that it would take 26 emails to get Lynn Loyns signed LOL!!! That was some good negotiating, I enjoyed that one.
Drunk is pretty easy going as well. As is Kris, and Mike I.
The guy that never bites is Mr. Axel.
I havent really delt with the others very much.

Gee. I pretty much can be a PITA to deal with.
I have the most fun dealing with Jiri Hirdina of the Wild, Prottotype of the Nords, Beerfund of the Habs, and CMPunk of the Flyers. Goffie and I have attempted numerous trade talks, but we both wanted the same thing for our teams, so we got nowhere in dealing, LOL
I can't seem to make a trade with the Rangers no matter what player he wants or what is offered from either side. It just doesn't happen. Ever.
The Sens, we will never deal. Red just doesn't want me to have his players.
The Jackets have failed to realize that Olli Jokinen should be mine. Same with the Avs and Joe Thornton, the Preds and Dany Heatley. Wake you GMs and get with the program.
Worst GM to deal with, has to be MJK. No, I don't want Zubov for Stuart and Erat. :P
GM's I miss, Superfraggle. We were starting a great rivalry. I loved to argue with that boy! And Sylvan Fan, he wrote some great articles and post game reports. B-)

hmm. not going to name too many names here
I find it hard to deal with guys that obviously have the same strategy/plan that I do...could almost never work out a deal with speeds for example when he was in EDM , found it hard to deal with Jiri for the same reason...cordial talks but we always wanted the same kind of player...we did eventually swing a fairly big trade this summer though
there are guys (and gals) I feel I can count on to swing a deal in a timely manner if there is something I need/want to get done...OTT comes to mind

Yeah it was nice to finally get a deal done this summer with Buffalo. It seems Loober and I do indeed have very similar ideas of what makes a good player. This became even more apparent during the recent draft when he grabbed a couple guys I had my eye on.

I was far and away the easiest GM in CPHL history to deal with. If a team has too much talent that it's making a mochery of the league bring me in, and that team will be mediocre in 6 months guaranteed. Look at my track record....Panthers destroyed. Poor MJK has had to spend 8000 plus hours on MSN to try and resurrect that sorry sack squad. Oilers....the future was paved in gold...now they look pretty average and have no cup to show for it. I am the Risebrough award!!!!

I'm not sure what to say here. I'm not a GM that's big for trading. If I feel I'm going to have issues dealing with a GM, I just walk away. That said, I've rarely done that with the current group of GMs. Good on you! One particular GM of the past tried to be my "buddy" and then tried to take advantage of that in deals he wanted to make with me. Not cool.

Gm I Enjoy Dealing with. Sabers come to mind. We dont make that many moves but when we want to it is not that hard. Jiri is always good to deal with when I need something quick to get under the Cap or roster limit.
MJK if fun to deal with. some times hard to get a deal done with. Mostly because of what he wants and who I dont want to move :P . But we have made a few big moves.
Becky - never seem to be able to make a deal with her. we both value are best players to much to trade with each other. That and she just wont get havlat from me. no matter how hard she tries.
Most Gm's are pretty good though and I enjoy talking with them about deals. even when we dont complete one.

I have several GMs that I talk to regularily, many names are tossed back and forth. Sometimes in jest other times seriously. There isn't GM that I'm not willing to talk to. That being said, I get pretty short when a GM asks for a player, then follows it up with "what would he cost?" I would prefer to have a GM toss a couple names at me and let me say "its a start" or "not a chance". I like dealing with the teams that have a good idea of the type of players they want, and offer me the types of players I want.
I can't think of any GMs that are left that I don't like to deal with. Some of the newbies I haven't hooked up with yet. (This summer in real life has been busier than I expected, so I haven't been able to meet up with some of you).
Some of the more vetran GM (Phoenix, Detroit, Columbus, Vancouver) I haven't dealt with very much, mostly because our respective needs and wants haven't meshed.
I do however, take great pride in the fact that I've been in this league virtually from the beginning (I took a couple months off to deal with the estate of a relative). and I have yet to mentioned on either side of the Risbrough Award. I take this to mean that I don't get ripped off (too badly) and I don't rip off other GMs ('cept that one deal with Cheese) .

Love to deal with: GM's that know what they want, target specific players and dont offer 2 or 3 ahlers for them.
Hate to deal with: GM's who don't give you some idea of what they are looking for or which players they like on your roster. The whole "make an offer" blind deal sucks and usually falls through. Do they really expect you to blow their socks off with this approach.

I've enjoyed the dialogue I've had with every GM. Some are more fair than others from the start, but the ones trying to rip you off usually come clean when you call their bluff early.
One comment I'd like to make is in response to the GM's suggesting that some GM's aren't very forthright with their targets or trade suggestions: I admit that I play that card every once in a while.
Take it as a compliment - it's like the class nerd offering the test results to the school bully. Some of the "newer" GM's, like myself, are very worried about getting screwed on a deal by a more experienced GM. Sure we can get advice from a mentor, etc, but if a trusted contact isn't available at the first point of discussion, it can be a little scary for a "noob" to answer the "well, what will you offer me for him?" question, because we don't want to offer too much from the start, and get taken.
In many cases, the value of a player in the CPHL is quite different from the actual "NHL" perception of the same player. Therefore, much more research in terms of CPHL value is required for a GM to make a true assessment of each player/prospect, etc, included in a deal. More experienced GM's can process and assess this information much more quickly, and have a better idea of the "true" impact of each deal on their team - therefore, they are better able to create a sliding scale in terms of their initial/acceptable/not acceptable trade negotiation tactics.
This is just my $0.02 in terms of a possible reason this happens in some cases...certainly not all of them though.
