He's a depth defender for most teams. Not a terrible player by NHL standards, but isn't good enough to earn a starting job. Only a 5th round pick huh?

Yeah... sets the bar for what a guy like Sarich could get (likely worse than this).

Probably best to hang onto Sarich to teach nasty to our young dmen.

Looks like the going rate for youngish depth defenceman. Drewiskie, Ellerby, and McNabb have all gone for 5th rounders this year.

Derek Smith and Anton Babchuck should be worth between a 5th and 7th round pick by this precedent.
