Ken King interview on sportnet today.

-Iginla forced flames hands, would only agree to go to pits
-should of had iginlas list of preferred teams in writing
-says management thought the team would compete this year
-backhandedly admits that the rebuild has started (at very end)

Listening to now. King is saying exactly what all the people who wanted a rebuild want him to say.

I meant, they should of had a legal agreement that iginla would accept a trade to any of the teams on his list.

They wanted to trade him to boston and Iginla nixed at the 11th hour.

All kidding apart the fact that a fat bald middle aged english guy whos never skated in his life has a better handle on the chances of the team competing than a million dollars of paid management is staggeringly frightening

This should be enough to convince everyone that all management, from Feaster, Weisbrod, and KK, needs to go.

This is the same thing I was arguing with captain obvious in the Iginla trade thread. The flames should have got Iginla to agree to waive to teams before talking deal and let the flames make the best deal. Of coarse Iggy picked Pitt would wouldn't? The Boston deal with no conditions on the pick was slightly better because we get 2 NHL players and a similar pick. There is a legit chance we get a pick and 2 players for the heat (I hope they pan out but I am not banking on it)

Another screw up by upper management. I simply can't believe Edwards hasn't canned these guys yet he is not known to tolerate incompetence

How come a lawyer doesnīt demand everything thatīs said on paper is pretty damn confusing. Especially when a deal like this is happening.

No. They just need to hire the guy from the movie Old School to do the paper work.

If the Flames had demanded his list in writing so that it was binding, half the folks in here would have been complaining about how our bush league management doesn't know how to properly treat the greatest Flame of all time and after 16 years they should have negotiated in good faith cause Iggy's a swell fella.

Apparently Sportsnet got hold of a picture of the Flames war room last night.

hoping this is just spin and not what management really thought, cause most people saw the Flames out of the race or, at best, fighting for 8th...

Unless KK's definition of "compete" is having the players lace up and play 3 periods of hockey that is...

That's terrible that they need hindsight to get his trade list in writing. The optics would have looked so much better just to say Iginla preferred the Penguins. Now they look like bumbling idiots in my opinion.

Of course management really thought that, or at least someone high up did, how else do you explain the moves this team has made (or hasn't made) over the past two years. There is substantial walk to back up that talk.
