Package the Pittsburgh pick
Find a team that has a need and a possible top 15 to 10 pick and package the Pens pick which could be 30th and move up to a top 15 or top 10 pick.
Maybe take a Gio and the first and send it to the Yotes who could use a Gio for their first and a prospect.
Currently the Yotes are sitting in 22nd place and in danger of missing the playoffs.
If we can do something it will help if we can move Bou who will be moved to contending team with a bottom of the standings draft pick.
If we're going to rebuild find a way to get a top 5 pick, a top 10 to 15 pick and a 20 to 30th pick.

I agree, try and package it with a player to get move up in the draft.
I'd rather have two really good 1sts, well ours and one we would trade up for, than 3, but one of those being the Pitt (which will be 26-30) and a mediocre (20-25) pick.
2 > 3 in that case.

Wonderful idea...though it might make more sense do it at the draft so the picks are known...a bit risky to do this and have the trading partner go on a run and have PIT lose in the first round.

I would love it if we could find a way to get 2 top 5 first round picks this year. Allot of players and picks in play. Talk about a kick start to a rebuild

I would expect that the asking price for Bou is going to be a first and a better prospect then what we got for Iggy.
So depending on if that happens you can take the lower of the Pens and a pick from the Bou trade and package it. you might have to trade a player that you don't want to like Gio, but a first and Gio should get you a very good package back including a higher first.
Fortune has to favor the bold in the case of the Flames, it would be nice to have three first round draft choice 1 in the one to 10, one in the 10 to 20 and one in the 20 to 30

Blah blah blah
This team is a failure unless it has at least 19 of the first round picks. This is not an arbitrary number, it is a fact.

While it would be nice, no way Colorado or the Panthers give up their pick because they know how terrible are (this is my theory on why Sacco hasn't been fired, because the higher ups want a good draft pick this year, then he is fired at seasons end).
Maybe Philly would part with it for a Bouwmeester? They are the only team I see how might move it, but with Bouwmeester I doubt they are still this bad defensively.

Or move the pick for a better first and a bad contact coming back. We're going nowhere for a couple years, and the owners don't mind spending to the cap, so might as well take on a bad contact or two and grab a few picks from desperate teams.
Just as long as the contacts aren't too long (say 3 years max), just take on as many bad contacts as possible. Say Kaberle for example; obviously Montreal doesn't want him, and they are already buying out Gomez. One year left on his contract, so take him on, and then ask for a pick and/or a prospect along with him.
Who knows maybe one of these washouts might pan out, and sign on for a cheaper deal going forward.

If we were fortunate enough to win the lottery, and assuming that the Avs are also in the top 3 or 4, I would bet that they would be very interested in trading up to get Jones. We could probably get their pick plus a very good prsopect.
But I would only be interested if their pick was also one of the top 4 (preferably 3)

Baertschi, Brodie along with one of McKinnon/Drouin and a 5-12 pick player (Lindholm, Monahan, Shinkaruk) would be a hell of a core to build around.
Adding in the x-factors Gaudreau and Jankowski who will likely join the club a little further down the road could be the perfect storm for a competitive team in a few seasons.
It will be extremely important for them to get a top tier d-man prospect back in one of our deadline or offseason trades. A top 4 ceiling guy at minimum. One with a possibility at being a top 2.
I think one of Breen or Wotherspoon will turn out to be a solid d-man for us in the future as well, probably in the 4-6 range though.

anyone ahve any thoughts on which kid will interest Florida?
I would think that, with Huberdeau, Grimaldi and Bjugstad as C prospects, that they might be the most inclined to go for Drouin of the teams likely to be in the top 3

Sounds like a very reasonable, sensible trade for both teams. This is something I'd like to see happen.

Whether it FLA or anyone else, I don't see a scenario where anyone other than Seth Jones goes #1 at the draft.

I bet Colorado goes hard at whoever has the first pick.
I am hoping we draft 3rd (unless we win the lottery). I really really want to have MacKinnon fall to us.
I agree that Jones goes 1st, but I want MacKinnon, even if we have the 1st pick

I would love to see us pick very high with our own pick and somehow turn the pens pick into a top ten one as well.
Draft MacKinnon and Sean Monahan and we'd be sitting pretty.
