As far as the comparison to other tablets, I really haven't used either of those, so it would be unfair to do some sort of head to head.
Its kind of a budget version of the prime. I think Asus intended to essentially scale down a few things to satisfy a certain price point in the market. You can look up the specs if you like.
My frank assessment is that it is a nice functional tablet. The screen is of lesser quality than the prime, and it has a plastic backing. Aside from that it is more than powerful to run anything I wanted to run on it.
One thing I despise in touch devices is lag of any kind, this is pretty snappy. Though I do find that at times it can be sluggish after being turned on from sleep. I'm not sure if that is some sort of processor power saving feature or something.
One thing that has been documented in reviews is that it strangely doesn't run browsers very well. I have read that it is because the software restricts the browser to only use one core, but I'm not too sure about that. The best browser I have found is Boat Browser.
