I really don't for sure where I got this lens. I think it was a kit lens I got with my T1i, and never found a use for it as I had a EF-L 100-400. I found it all lonely and sad in box of stuff in my closet. Anyway, it has never left the box, except for tonight just to make sure it wasn't cracked. I can say, with a sturdy tripod, and a good circle polarizer, that hot University student across the street is well within it's fully erect reach. That makes it 480 mm...480!! on a 1.6 x crop Rebel.... which is in technical terms, a lot. You can also take pictures of birds if that's your deal. Heck, you see a fencepost off in the distance, but you don't want to leave your car, done! All the rotten knotty wood photoshop can handle.

It is found money in my eyes, so lets make this quick and easy. First $160 owns it, as the best I have seen these go on sale for in the past is $200.

It's not a bad lens for a new DSLR user that wants a telephoto, I borrowed one at a WestJet BBQ years ago before I ended up buying the 70-300 IS model (and now have the L series 100-400 like you):
