I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Tom left us all a letter a few days before he died:
Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom. It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with its beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world. I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future. I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done. Sincerely, Your Friend always, Stompin' Tom Connors

One of the last true Canadian music icons. You could never have heard the guy perform in your life, and you would still say, "That's that Canadian sound."
RIP Stompin Tom, I've sang your Hockey song hundreds of times.
When I was a kid we had this 79 GMC van that my parents bought to move stuff. It had a 8 track player, and came with a stompin tom tape. Later on hockey road trips it was always Stompin Tom playing in a van full of kids. One time it broke down on the Coquihalla, and my brother and I hitched a ride to go get my Mom and some tools to fix it. My Dad managed to fix it, and as we were about to leave he pulled up on the drive way. One of the kids remarked, You should have seen us we were like the Flying CPR!
