Default Swiss National league player paralyzed

Don't watch it if you don't want to. Article is in french:
http://www.lematin.ch/sports/hockey/...story/13701924

Apparently 50/50 he can walk again. Looks like he tried to make contact with the incoming player early but went straight into the boards

Hope he comes out ok.

Both players are to blame there, in my opinion. More so the hitter for throwing the hit, but the hittee stopped up far to short.

Nasty regardless and I hope he makes a recovery.

I think "got up and demanded a penalty or something" is more like it.

Nothing wrong with this hit. Unfortunate incident but the guy stopped way too early before reaching the boards. The guy was trying to do what Phaneuf always does where the player bounces off the defender. Unfortunately the other player went right through him.

Ouch, that is tough to watch.

I will give the player the benefit of the doubt in not realizing what a vulnerable position the player was in and 9 times out 10 that guy doesn't get hurt that bad.

I sort of wish I hadn't watched that now (I know, I was fairly warned, I'm just saying). My stomach went all funny and still feels that way. Cripes - poor guy. I hope he recovers far more than they're anticipating. Horrible.

Doctors say he'll be paralyzed for life. Terrible tragedy.
