Default Season Predictions thread

Big predictions, small predictions, whatever. Let's talk hockey!

Stanley Cup: Edmonton Oilers
I know I'll get roasted, but they probably have had the most active roster during the lockout and the OKC team is tearing it up. I hope to god I'm wrong. However, Flames win head to head season series

Art Ross trophy: Sidney Crosby with around 60 points
Long periods without hockey don't slow him down

Flames finish 8th in conference.
Not enough defense or grit this year.

Sven hits top 30 in goals in the league.

Iginla gets 30 points

Flames buy out Stajan

Columbus finishes dead last again.
Yakupov goes down to the AHL after 15 games. And still sucks. We learn he has attitude problems

High number of pulled groins and high ankle sprains

Fat jokes about more than a few players.

The OKC team is just proving Edmonton's method of building a team as false. They have arguably the 3 best players in the league on the team, and they are barely in the playoffs. Edmonton is almost playing their NHL team in the AHL. How could they win the Stanley Cup?

Well, assuming our roster will look something like this

Tanguay - Cammy - Iginla
Glencross/Baertschi - Cervenka - Hudler
Glencross/Baertschi - Stajan - Stempniak
Comeau-Jones-Jackman

Wideman-Giordano
Brodie-Sarich
Bouwmeester-Butler/Babchuck
Babchuk/Butler

Kipper
Irving

And our coach has won the ultimate prize in every league he's coached in as far as I remember.

I think we'll do just fine.

wow, some extreme predictions out there in the OP.

my only prediction is that, of Iginla, Kipper, Bouwmeester, only 1 will be on the full 2013-2014 flames roster.

The individual players are tearing it up, but the team is barely in the playoffs.

They have the 2 top scorers in the league (by a huge margin) but are sitting 7th in the west, 3 points out of 9th.

Tearing it up, indeed.

So those are two very different things, no way in hell Edmonton wins the Cup this year.

oilers would be smart to make some moves like moving gagners/yakupovs, etc, to get:
1) Large physical top 6 forward
2) Steady top 2 Dman
3) 1a Goalie

Otherwise, Oilers will be hardpressed to not be the worst team in the NW again. The oilers blogger on the eklund site made an interesting suggestion of the oilers going after a real Center, and trading yakupov+gagner in exchange for Getzlaf.

That being said, i will predict that EVERY major sports reporter/publication will place the oilers above the flames in their season predictions.

Hopefully a 1st round pick, too, because Filppula will be hard to re-sign for this team.

I think that Iginla will sign an extension that keeps him in Calgary.

I think Kipper is not on the team at the end of the season.

Shortened season with shortened camps? Throw a dart, who the hell knows.

You can't be serious.....they only have 4-5 players in OKC that will be with the big club, nice over exaggeration though.

I say the Penguins will win the cup. A shorter season and all that time Crosby and co. had to rest will help them out. I think they will be a deadly team to play against. Just as long as the Canucks and Oilers don't win it i'll be good.

That makes the predictions more fun Imo. I'm wrong by a mile every year, so take it for what it's worth.

I have more reason than most to want Edmonton to suck. I grew up in oiler country, so most of my friends and family are oiler fans and they can't wait to get me back for all the ridicule I've thrown their way. I just took a dart and threw it out there

I will erect a statue of Feaster on my lawn if that happens. It won't though, Holland is a brilliant hockey guy and his team has made the post season how many years in a row now? I don't think he touches Bouw with a 10 foot pole.
