JOB OVERVIEW
Suncor is recruiting Senior Mining Engineers for multiple Mining and Tailing planning roles. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and developing mine and tailings plans and designs. Based in Calgary, these opportunities provide an exciting and interdisciplinary working environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Provide technical leadership in the development and optimization of long range (+18 month) mine and tailings plans
- Conduct strategic economic studies of engineering and business options available to the company and make recommendations to management
- Mentor junior staff and support them in their development
- Lead the integration of reclamation and closure landform designs into the long-range mine and tailings plans
- Facilitate collaboration with various technical groups to ensure consistency with reclamation plans and stakeholder groups
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:- Engineering degree (P.Eng) in Mining, Civil, Geological or similar
- Minimum 10 years engineering/planning experience in the industry
- Experience in operations is desirable
- A multidisciplinary background in mining, reclamation, geotechnical/geological engineering and tailings planning
- Superior change management skills and the ability to work in dynamic teams
- Knowledge of CAD and/or Mine Planning software such as Minescape and XPAC
Skills and Knowledge:- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others at various levels within the organization
- Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
- An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relations within the organization
- Effective leadership skills; demonstrated ability to make decisions
- Exercises good judgment on complex decisions
- Ability to provide personal and technical mentorship to junior staff members
