2013 Consolidated Injury Thread
So far we have:
Feb 6, 2013: Michael Cammalleri - Hip flexor (day-to-day)
Feb 4, 2013: Miikka Kiprusoff - Lower body injury (day-to-day) **IR
Jan 28, 2013: Sven Baertschi - Hip flexor (IR)
and Anton Babchuk (Although he has been cleared to play?)
The first two I would deem to be uber critical, these guys can win game on their own. Sven, however you want to put it, is a nice to have.
Well heres to hoping the injuries get done early.
EDIT:
Forgot to add Backlund
Feb 7th, 2013: Mikael Backlund status unknown **IR 4-6weeks

Any news on Backlund? I can't believe he finally gets a shift with Hudler and Cervenka and gets his knee taken out.
With what he has shown this season, missing any large amount of time injured would be a huge blow to this team.

Flames website has Backlund on the IR
As a note, Kipper is now on the IR.....
http://flames.nhl.com/club/roster.htm
Would guess that means he is out for awhile.... With a knee injury is my guess.

That's not good. It's good for Taylor though, who whill likely see some ice time. A rapid placement on IR for backlund could mean it's a serious one.

If Kipper tweaked his MCL or ACL, then it's more probable that he's going to be out for a month or so like the last time he got hurt in January of 04. With the Flames playing every other day for the entire month practically, Irving and Taylor are going to have to show some competence. At least we're mostly playing mid level teams and not the best of the best.

How quickly can someone be taken off the IR?

We're screwed if Kipper is out long.

Right now, the roster is 24 players with 3 on the IR, so that gives them 2 open spots.
Babchuk is expected to get activated soon, so he'll take one spot. I assume Horak will be getting the call to fill the other spot.

Was it seven days or seven games?
Also, is that different because of the shortened season? Probably not, but maybe.

Of the list of forwards on IR or injured Backlund hurts the most. At least 7 days without Backlund is a big hit, bigger than Cammi or Sven. The flames center depth could not afford a loss like this.
