Default Wedding Florist that isn't a Ripoff?

My bridal-unit went and got a quote from a place that came in at 150% of the budget she gave them, and kind of ticked me off.

Is there anywhere that isn't going to bend us over? I really don't want to spend 2 plane tickets to Europe or 300 drinks for my friends at the reception on decorations that turn to rotten mush after a day.

I understand what the word "wedding" means, and I also understand what "ripoff" means, but when you put them in the same sentence, I get confused.

The 50 to 100% markup that seems to be automatic once the word "wedding" is involved is highly irritating. Jiri is on the right track, look for a small independent place, off the beaten path. Go in with what your budget is, and ask what they can do for that, and try to work in your wishes without them jacking up the prices. But simply going in with your wish list and no firm budget is a sure way to get hosed on the same level as purchasing extended warranty.

I was best man for my buddy a while back, and one of my gameday jobs was picking up the flowers. They ordered everything from Costco, everything looked great and from what they told me much cheaper than a wedding florist.

For our wedding, we used May Rose Florist.

I would recommend.

We spent $200 on flowers for our wedding. That included 4 bouquets, 4 boutonierres, (maybe more, I can't remember)

Dude, if he hasn't slept with her before the wedding then he's a bad shopper. That'd be like buying a car to use for the rest of your life without taking it for a test drive.

We only got the Bridal parties flowers done by a lady we got off Kijiji, our center pieces we did with flowers we bought at Costco. We were about $650-$700 all in that was including the center pieces for over 30 tables as well.

My next door neighbor is a floral department manager for one of the Safeways and has also previously owned her own floral shop. She does weddings out of her home though and is very very good and very very reasonable.

PM me if you are interested and I can act as the go between.
