Back Alley nightclub closing
Wasn't entirely sure if this should be in the Food and Entertainment section. Mods, please move if you feel it should be.

Doug Rasberry has owned the infamous Macleod Trail club since 1986 when it was Denny Andrews American Bar. In late 1991, it was renovated and renamed the Back Alley Nightclub.

While the bar officially closed last weekend, according to Jeremiah Jurcic, one of the club’s owners, one last blow out bash will be hosted on Saturday where customers are invited to the “Drink The Alley Dry.”

23 years is an incredibly long time for a nightclub. I personally have a lot of good memories from the Alley.
I regret not taking on a DJ gig when offered.

Many memories of The Alley. Always plenty of cops, drugs, fights, sluts at that place... usually lots of good times too. Haven't been in years, but it will be remembered as one of the few clubs in the city that played rock music.
Anyone remember the foam party gone wrong in the early 2000's?

There is another thread in the Food and Entertainment section.
I've messaged a mod to merge the two or delete this one. The other thread was posted 5 minutes before this one.

I blame this club for hearing loss. Yes it did play good rock music. But the speakers facing in on the dance floor from feet away playing at the volume they had it at is just stupid. Every night I've been there I've come away with ringing ears.

One summer job i had was on the edge of downtown. A couple of hookers would use the street and the area as their stroll. They wore the same clothes every day. The last time i went to the Back Alley was on a Friday night that summer. i saw the same hookers dancing on the dance floor and then tables. Guys were falling all over each other to get to them. They hadnt even changed their clothes from their 10 + hours hooking that day.
It was so gross. I had to leave as i figured it was like a bunch of dudes were courting an STD infection right before your eyes.

In the few months I've lived here, I can say this applies to pretty much any bar/club in town. Your mileage may vary.

Ahhhh Crack Alley.... Had my Bachelorlette party there. Good times.
Any bar that would play Metallica and Pantera back-to-back was cool for me.

It was quite the hole. Rock and Nightclubs don't mix. Keep it to concerts and strip clubs.

Hush, child. You do not know the Crack Alley of the 90s.

I went there when they still played rock. The only people who dance at a nightclub to Metallica are those who have consumed more than their fair share of cocaine.

My last bar fight happened there, and it was epic.
