Caution: The following post may be nerdy
Hey all... thought I'd throw this out in case there is some interested parties that don't know about this yet. Should have done this sooner for planning reasons, but hey, I forgot.
Every year there is a rocket launch called LDRS held. This is the largest gathering of amateur rocketeers in the world. This year is the 24th LDRS and for the first time ever, is being held in Canada. It has been an American event since it began, and this year my club in Lethbridge decided to put in a bid to host it. This has been 2 years in the planning and is fairly large.
Basically it's a gathering of hundreds of people that fly rockets, whether small or large. Some may be 1" and some may be 16 feet in length. This year is also the highest altitude, with clear airspace all the way up to 50,000 feet for our use.
During the night, lot's of people camp out and gather around the fire, drinking, stories being told, playing with assorted "flammable" things

It's just a rockin good time.
It is a great event for kids to experience. Also, if you have always wondered what a 16 foot rocket looks like roaring into the sky and out of sight, then you must come. If you are around the Lethbridge area and want to drop by, the dates are July 14-19. There are always far more spectators than fliers and we expect at least 400 people.
