Default Friedman: Feaster/Flames are not going to blow it up

I know this is in the Post Game Thread, but this to me is a real big issue.

It might just be Feaster being disingenuous with the media in order to not reveal any cards that might be involved in current trade negotiations. However, it feels like it is actually accurate.

I don't understand what the ownership group might be smoking when looking at this team as it is compiled. There is no chance that this team is going anywhere but a bottom 5 finish in the conference.

No need the team is in the process of grenading itself.

Well news in so much as it is new that Friedman discussed it, rather than it being shocking in anyway shape or form.

Hearing ownership has just bought majority stake in Canada's largest paper bag company.

I don't think they'll have a choice, I believe even if he's not traded, Jarome will leave on his own accord and that will force the organization to finally consider a new strategy.

If you are a desparate seller the price goes down. I want feaster to be quiet and make deals. I think Feasters statement of no changes is a positive sign. Its the classic the coaches job is safe statement. Remember the blow it up before the deadlines statement that was all bluster? This is the oppisite

I hate your avatar. I thought that when Oilers fans did it over the past couple of seasons. Go cheer for another team already.

Going to be a lot of egg on ownerships faces if Iginla leaves as a UFA and the Flames lose him for nothing because they wanted to keep him around for a run at 8th.

I can only hope he is saying this in the same way he said that major changes or whatever it was on Sportsnet before doing nothing.

It isn't just Jarome that means blowing it up. They could keep Jarome but get rid of the other 30+ forwards (glencross, tanguay, cammalleri and Stajan)

There's one player of any consequence on this team, it's obvious. The rest just aren't good enough at this point in time. What's to be done? I'm really feeling bad about this team. I never have before. I'm not naive. I'm an optimist. Anybody?

I am so damn tired of people regurgitating this quote.

As long as the management team is discussing everything in an honest manner with themselves they are fulfilling that. It doesn't mean they have to be honest to the media and the fans.

If playoffs are out of the question at the deadline and the Flames decide not to rebuild/sell, then I will not be renewing my seasons tickets.

Except this team is Iginla centric, and as long as he's here, decisions are going to be made revolving around him. So unfortunately, Iginla is the key to blowing it up here.

The only question that matters at this point: How stubborn is Murray Edwards?

Huh?

The quote is a reference to being honest in the assessment of the team and its results.

You have misinterpreted his quote, it has nothing to do with honesty with the media.

You missed my point.

We have no idea whether or not they are being honest with themselves in assessing the team. All we see is what is said to the media.
