How do they do it? Is it two live streams that when you press the R, you choose the other stream?

Not live streams. It's two pre-recorded and edited films shot from the same locations (for the most part) using the same camera angle. When you press R, it switches to the "darker" story, and when you release R, it returns to the "lighter" story.

I think he understood what was going on in the video.... more asking how they did it.
