@reporterchris: End of an era: There were 170 NHL coaching changes from the time Lindy Ruff was hired by the #sabres in July 1997 and fired today.

I blame management on this one, they've signed so many terrible contracts since new ownership took over: Leino, Ehrhoff, Myers, the Regehr trade, etc.
But someone had to take the blame for their slow start, and I've expected Ruff to get canned for awhile ago, so not totally unexpected.

I agree. Lets not forget that Miller has been terible for the last year and a half.

Under Ruff, the Sabres missed the playoffs six times, made the playoffs eight times and went to the Stanley Cup Finals once.

He was (since 1997-98). Now, it's Trotz (HC in Nashville since 1998-99).
