JOB OVERVIEW The Senior Drilling Engineer plans exploration, appraisal, and production of well construction and engineering and provides regular operational support.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Prepares drilling and intervention programs for exploration and development wells
- Recommends selection of contractors and service companies for all drilling operations
- Provides onshore technical support, well design and equipment for offshore drilling operations
- Accountable for quality assurance/quality control of Service Suppliers procedures and coordinating interfaces for work instruction
- Mentors and trains Petro-Canada's Drilling Engineers
- Accountable for cost estimating and control for well programs
- Reviews and updates design procedures and practices integrating new technologies and efficiencies
- Implements safety and environmental responsibilities as identified in the Norway Safety Management System; participates in Hazops, Simops reviews and risk assessments as necessary
- Assists in the preparation and evaluations of service and contractor tenders
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:- Bachelor of Science/Higher National Diploma in Engineering is required
- Eight to ten years of all-around Drilling Engineering experience, with at least three years of offshore well site Drilling Engineering experience, and at least six years of professional Engineering experience
Skills and Knowledge:- Sound and demonstrated knowledge of Well Control Operations
- Wide knowledge in Drilling Engineering, in some or all of the following: Drilling optimization, Direct drilling and surveying, including Extended Research Drilling, Drilling Fluids and cementing design and application, Bore hold mechanics, Wellhead and Casing design and selection, High Pressure/High Temperature well design
- Familiar with all aspects of onshore and offshore operations
- Ability to communicate with Norway and Corporate Management, work with interdisciplinary team members and Assets representatives, and with Petro-Canada's contractors
- Good knowledge of the Norwegian regulatory process and drilling permit applications
- Good data management skills and demonstrated computer software literacy in engineering tools
