I get the C-Train from Anderson around 7:25 and head over to the University. I leave here at 4:30 on the train. With the parade going on, will I be able to get on the train in the morning or will it be completely packed even that far south in the route? Any ideas how busy it will be during the rest of the stampede festivities?

I dont know what the situation is like at Anderson, but based on what Chinook looks like on the rare times I have to take the train on the morning rush, I can't imagine that the trains can get any more packed.

I think your biggest problem will be coming back from the University as the normally empty Erlton station will be packed with people leaving the grounds, and there will be more people overall at all stations trying to get to the Stampede.

Well, Monday and Tuesday when the train got to Anderson at 7:30'ish the first car was completely empty. But after a few stops it started to fill up. Today when I got on the train all the seats were taken and I had to stand up. But after going through downtown it was pretty empty from there up to the university. I'm hoping that when I leave here at 4:30 that I'll be able to get a seat, then I won't mind so bad if it gets really full during stampede. As long as I have a seat.

Having worked parade mornings the last 4 years and taken the afternoons off(not this year, suckers, full day off!) and taken the train, it does get a lot busier, early.

Trains are packed by Southland, mostly with those rookie train riders such as families with kids who don't move in far enough,, don't realize the doors don't close if they're standing near them, and then do the requisite complaining and whining about everything C-Train related when things get packed tight. "I'm hot" "Its too busy" "Why don't they have more trains" etc etc

Get on as far south as possible, and, at 7 instead of 7:25.

Has any driven downtown parade day? I was going to take the day off but my friggin bookkeeper decided she had to come in tomorrow. I absolutely LOATHE the C-Train. Anyone know if the streets are blocked off at 6th Ave or 5th?

Jump on a southbound train & ride a couple of stops back to ensure you get a seat. Then put on some horse blinders so that you don't feel bad that a pregnant woman is standing while you are lounging.
