In 1976, Leafs captain Darryl Sittler had a 10 point game against the powerhouse Boston Bruins, an individual record that not even Gretzky or Lemieux could break.
Someone at Hockey Night in Canada gave Sittler the game tape as a gift, the only copy available and now the only game missing from the HNIC archive.
Sittler has since refused all attempts to make copies or to have it viewed. His reasons are unclear. Highlight packages are available, but not the game itself, a part of hockey history.

I don't remember that game but I remember a game where Bobby Orr scored 3, 4 or times on himself, but have never been able to find the game and can't remember who they were playing. I was probably 8 or 9 which would be back in the early 70's
People get weird when they get old. He can't remember the last time he saw the tape but he gets all Grinchy and possessive when someone asks about seeing the whole game?
What a ######. Get over yourself. The game is bigger than you.
I hope somebody recorded it and uploads it to youtube like the Star Wars Christmas special.
And then someone notices he didn't have 10 points.

Sittler's 10 pt game i was a Bruins fan and remember watching that game with my Dad.
The Bruins were a dominant team as they went on to play in Stanley Cup that year losing to the Habs in a sweep.
While the Leafs were low in the standings, but the Sittler, Lanny, Thompson line was talented.
lol the Leafs actually made the playoffs thanks to the crappy Cleveland Barons.
Back then 3 out 4 teams from every division made the playoffs.
But that 10 pts was just bizarre it was a 11-4 game and the puck just seemed to follow Sittler around. A pass would go off a players a skate right to him. Also Salming was on fire that night too.
I remember the announcer saying over and over "and that is another point for Sittler"!
Dave Reece was a rookie Bruins goalie and after that complete meltdown never played again in the NHL.

Maybe he was copying a porno and accidentally taped over the game.
boom chicka wow wow.
or maybe he didn't want the younger generation who have only heard in stat's about the 10 pts to see for themselves how awful Reece was in net.
If that game was in Boston the fans would have pelted the ice with garbage and the police would have to try to prevent raging fans from attacking him.

Lived in TO at the time and actually turned down a chance to go to that game. Box suite no less.
did watch it however, and will never forget it. It was absurd the way the puck repeatedly ended up in a scoring spot every time Sittler was on the ice...whether his stick or Thompson or lanny.

or maybe, after a solid career that was all but disembowelled by Harold Ballard, he clung onto a piece of history that no one could take away from him.
(not attempting to justify it, just to understand it)
