We are all watching the Flames this season, but the question is - why?
We all have our reasons for watching Flames hockey, but I'm interested in WHY for this season. Possibilities include:
1. Die-hard Fan - Can't look away even if I wanted to.
2. I think that anything is possible, including the Flames winning The Cup this year.
3. I just like hockey in general, so I might as well watch The Flames as they are my home town team.
4. I'm a troll/fan of another team - hoping for my fill of Schadenfreude provided by the Flames this year.
5. I'm following the development of the younger players like Irving, Backlund, Horak and Baertschi, etc.
6. I'm actually NOT watching them. I just come here to see if there's any interesting posts.
7. Interested to see if Hartley can teach some of the old dogs on the team new tricks with a new system.
For me - it's #5.

I can't help it. I like watching them and during the game I cheer for them to win even though rationally I know this would be the ideal year for them to hit the skids. There is a lot of this roster I'm sick of cheering for, but I can't just not cheer for the crest.

With the exception of tonight the Flames have been playing an exciting game of hockey thanks to Hartley and his up tempo plan. It's been a huge improvment over Brent Sutter and his boring style of game. Makes the game worth watching again.

Other than tonight they are playing a more exciting game of hockey.
I got center ice to watch Sven and if it was Iggy's last year as a flame i did not want to miss it.

Die hard fan, and always think "if they can just get to the playoffs anything can happen".

I guess it's a combination for me. I've always been a Flames fan and always will be but it's not like I look at the team with rose coloured glasses and start planning the parade at the start of every season. I know there will be periods where we'll probably lose more games than we win but I just like the team and have always cheered for them no matter what.
Generally I find there will always be something of interest for me. Be it being considered a Stanley Cup contender, identity and strategy of the team, line combos, trades, draft picks, other peoples opinions, etc.

Renewed optimism with all the new faces, including Hartley.
That, and I'm a bit of a masochist it seems

I co-host a flames centric podcast, so I have to watch it even if I don't want to.
