What teams have the best prospect groups position wise?
What teams have the best forward, defence and goalie prospects?
For example Calgary has Ortio, Irving, Brossoit and Gillies. I'd say that ranks up there in terms of goaltending prospects.
I propose to you, what teams have the best prospects in regards to their positions?

Pittsburgh stands out for defencemen. Morrow, Depres, Maatta, Pouliot, Dumoulin are all guys who should eventually end up playing in the league. Most of those guys have fairly high ceilings.

Ok, lets get it out of the way...
Edmonton Oilers = forwards.

Like who? Yakupov and... who?
I would say St. Louis Blues = forwards. Tarasenko, Rattie, Schwartz are all top-end. Or Florida, with Huberdeau, Grimaldi, Bjugstad, Howden and Shore.

With the Oilers, most of their forward prospects vitually skipped the prospect stage of development, and went right to being players, therefore it's hard to judge.
Maybe Yakupov is still considered a prospect, but he certainly won't be after this season.

Absolutely. I'd take an elite goaltending prospect like Markstrom or Lehner over all of Calgary's goaltending prospects combined.

Penguins have the most disturbing blue line depth in the league.
Joe Morrow
Derrick Pouliot
Simon Despres
Olli Maata
That's quality AND quantity.

Absolutely? Who are the other 4 in the top 5? Who is 6-10?

Again the Blues have to be up there, having Jake Allen and Jordan Binnington in the system. NYI also strong with Nilsson and Poulin. Columbus is actually top 5 too I would think - listening to Davidson yesterday and he's really pumped on that situation and has every right to be.
Evaluating a goaltending system for me is very different from evaluating a prospect pool generally because you only really need the one guy to pan out. Quality over quantity is more the case with tenders than at any other position.

Seriously?
Yakupov, Nugent-Hopkins, Hall, Paajarvi, Eberle.

I don't entirely agree.
Yes, you only need one to pan out.
But it's a bit of a lottery who will so I'll take as many good prospects as I can get, looking for that one that turns out big

Hall and Eberle are not prospects (neither is RNH, actually).
And Paajarvi is not high end

Guess it depends on how you define "prospect".
To me, it's any player who has yet to enter the beginning of their prime (and the symbolic end of their development, biologically and psychologically) at age 25.

Are you %*@ kidding me?! Hall and Eberle aren't even on their ELC's anymore and are making 6 million dollars a year, and you call them "prospects"? You're out to lunch. Pajaarvi has been a pro for three years now and Nugent-Hopkins was up for the Calder. They're not prospects, they're the team's ROSTER. Yakupov won't even qualify after this season.
JFC what a ridiculous statement.

RNH, Hall, and Eberle are established top line NHLers, not prospects.

How necessary is this offensive style of rhetoric?
