Default Anyone know a good Allergist?

My current doctor has one foot into retirement and his hours are all over the board... Just wondering if anyone here can recommend a good allergist (preferably downtown or south)?

This is for a grass allergy, I get weekly grass serum injections for 12-16 weeks or so prior to allergy season.

Also, if anyone has a better solution to rid me of this yearly pestilence I am also all ears!

I would have put this into the quick question thread but I can't seem to find it anymore (if it still exists maybe this can be moved?).

Thanks,

I recommend this guy based solely on his name.

Don't you need a referral from a GP?

I had one originally about 4 years ago.. I am sure I can talk to my GP to get a new referral.

To be honest I am debating after this year trying a year without treatment to see if my symptoms are manageable.

It's the itchy/burning/pussing eyes that is really the only thing that bugs me. I can handle looking like a toddler with my nose running for a month straight.

I was actually coming in to recommend not using him. He completely botched my diagnosis and refused to listen to my concerns. I really got the impression he was more interested in setting up "repeat customers" than really getting to the root of the issue.

My bad... I thought you meant your GP was retired(ing).

I'm allergic to "vegetative molds" - mostly found in grass, leaves, etc. I used to get shots. Now I just avoid lawn work (bonus!) and take a Claratin if I'm going to a park or mountains, etc. Still have some bad days, but mostly managable.

I am not overly concerned with diagnosis at this point... I am allergic to every type of grass

Are you sure you're not allergic to permanent marker?

I've got the ol' mold allergy too, which is all over the grass.

I was tested a while back now, but the guy was very good and highly renowned. Now if I could only remember his name... as I am across the country from my files.

He was referred to from Dr. Barber the dermatologist. Very old guy with a big white beard, who also focuses on eczema. Dr. Bowen maybe? I will come back if I talk to anyone at home.

I've seen Dr. Tom Bowen for my allergies once. And I've been doing the shots for the past 3 years. I am allergic to lots of grasses the allergy test was done on my back and it made yours look like a walk in the park (can't find the pic though). He was nice, a bit odd. Not much to say as I've only had the one visit.
