Good trade for Minny, Rupp seems like a great dressing room guy.

Don't know Rupp, but I thought Powe was a pretty decent-looking bottom-6 guy for Minnesota. They don't need toughness so much as secondary scoring talent, but I guess they trust they'll be able to transition a bunch of young guys from their AHL team.

Rupp is a good veteran guy. He has grit, size, and experience (won a Cup in NJ).

From watching 24/7 Rupp definitely seems like a very well respected locker room leader. Minnesota has a really young team. Before adding Rupp they only had 4 guys aged 30 years or older.

This is the type of guy the flames need on their bottom 6.

They might not even make it. Nash is like the Bouwmeester for forwards.

With Rupp, Prust, and Dubinsky gone I think the Rangers will struggle.
Lots of talk about the Rangers lack of an identity early this season and this can be directly attributed to losing that team toughness they had throughout the lineup last season.

Haha... came in to see someone say we should have picked up Rupp, leaving satisfied.
To me, Blair Jones = Mike Rupp.

^ Steve Mason carried the Jackets to their only playoff appearance not Rick Nash. But unlike JBO Nash has played in the playoffs in Juniors (JBO also did play 18 playoff games in the AHL, but looks like he was just loaned to the Wolves for their playoff run his actual team didn't make it).

Jones is a better hockey player from a talent perspective. Does that mean he's more or even of equal value? No.
In the words of John Tortorella, "Ruppers a true pro. He just gets it"
I like Jones, I don't think the comparison is a good one.

I'd say it wasn't Nash or Mason, but Hitchcock.

Rangers are missing a guy like Prust and now shipping of a guy like Rupp is a head scratcher but theres a lot out there right now players are not getting along with Torts so who knows maybe Rupp asked to be moved.

Seems harsh 7 points in 8 games or a 72 point projection on a regular season which would be his 2nd best season in the league.

Maybe. But i think he is one of the most overrated forwards in the NHL.
Also them making depends on Gaborik staying healthy which is kind of a stretch.

huh? He has only missed a few games in the last 4 seasons.
Sure in 2010 he missed 20, but he played all 82 last year,
and only missed 6 games in 2009.
I guess if by healthy you mean 82 games every season for his career, but not everyone can be iron men!
