There is another one just east of the city. Get on glenmore, first right past 84th street. It's called shakers.

I think it's more aimed at kids though.

The kart track that they have there seems to be pretty good though.

Too bad Ricky Bob's closed down up in Balzac... that was a pretty fun one I'd say.
Kartworld would probably be the best one in Calgary.

We went to the Speeders in Edmonton this weekend.
It was quite a bit of fun. I don't know for sure about the top speed but it does seem quick. There were a lot of corners that you had to break pretty hard for.
They also do a decent job telling slower drivers to pull over at a straight section so that people can pass them.

Seems pretty expensive? Or are those prices about par for other places?

I think thats cheaper than the old indoor place was. If I remember right. The prices seem on par with other cities I know of.

I went last Friday and Speeders is top notch. The karts are great and the laps were pretty thrilling! If everyone is a first timer they'll cap the speed for the first few laps but even those were fun. When they let you go full throttle the fun goes to another level.
Although it was busy on Friday, they were organized and rather helpful. The facility is a bit cavernous but it's nice and tidy. I can't wait to go back this weekend!
It's not head-to-head positional racing but rather best lap time qualification-style racing. I think they do it to limit the amount of bumping and contact as the walls are more for track alignment than crash barriers (i.e. they move quite easily and have to be pushed back into place).
The qualification-style racing may not seem as fun as positional but it can be pretty competitive as you are racing against both yourself and others. Also, you have no idea what your lap time is until you get out of the car so you have to push yourself for 13 out of the 14 laps.

I thought it was pretty tame. You never have to brake, just floor it the whole time. Whoever had the kart that happened to be a bit faster was always the winner, and the karts weren't all that fast as the place is geared for kids (we had a work function there).

I can also second that speeders is a great place to have some fun. If there are slower racers out there they are really good at allowing quicker people to pass.
If you spin out bad or really hit a wall hard they'll give you a warning but if you're just endangering others or you're dumb enough to pull a second infraction, they've got no problem immediately removing you from the track.
The staff are great and the karts are really quick. Bonus is that if you race more than 12 times, they'll open up the kart to 'pro-speed' and let you have at it. (as opposed to the regular speed) We saw a group of guys race at full throttle and they really fly.

They have a place in Toronto with the same style of go-karting, and that place is fun as hell, I don't think I've hit full throttle in that kart yet.
I want to try this place out in Calgary now. I would love to be able to race at the pro-speed eventually and see what it's all about.

Can't wait to check this place out.
I love fast-karts. I wish they had an unlimited membership or something.
