I figured 10 days in we might as well have an update on where the Rookie race is at, it's pretty exciting to see Monahan right up there at the top along with Baertschi in the top 15 and Colborne in the top 30. Every Sunday I will update the stats, but this is going to be an exciting topic for Flames fans through out this year IMO.

It's very early in the season but the Calder race looks like it will be very close and exciting. Hertl has been a goal scoring machine.
Monahan has been incredible.
Mackinnon has been a contributor to an amazing Avs team.
Seth Jones is logging a ton of ice time.
Krug is playing like a stud in Boston.
Sven has the potential to put up some big points too.

I hate to say it, but Arcobello has looked very good for the Oilers. Ten points and a plus three on that team? Pretty impressive.

Trouba and Arcabello have an outside chance too. Trouba only because of injury

He also apparently can't hit the broad side of a barn when it comes to burying chances too.

Yep, he does actually. However, he is only 5'8'?

Hertl is listed as a Centre there, but is he actually playing Centre?

Arcobello is showing nice stats early but won't be a factor in the Calder race later because he's just playing Sam Gagner's minutes right now.
There's really no place for him except the 4th line once Gagner returns (RNH, Gagner, Gordon as the top 3 C).

Arcobello will the number 1 center in Edmonton for the next ten years after RNH, Gagner, and Gordon all suffer career ending injuries this season.

Arcobello is 25 years old. He'll need to have a hell of a season to get more votes than the teenagers.

Didn't realize he was that old. Still a nice looking player, though. It will be interesting to see where they put him when Gagne comes back.

In addition to that he has yet to score a goal, and half of his assists have been secondary.
What Monahan, Hertl, Mackinnon etc..have done has been far more impressive.

Nope. He is playing on the wing almost exclusively with Joe Thornton as his center.

If I had to bet today I think Jones will be the guy. It hasn't went to a D since 2010 and the 'fell to 4' back drop will make a great story. That said if any of the forwards manage to keep up with close to a PPG pace that forward probably wins it.

Nice thing about Monahan over Hertl, is Monahan is consistent.
