I remember the ice there being brutal.. bumpy as hell, dirty.. but that's what made it awesome!

Does anyone else remember the old Kinsmen Arena? I used to dread playing there.

The big dressing rooms at the back were awesome! Showers are one of the best in the city there as well!

hopefully the city can reschedule all of those booked ice times - i can only imagine how much of a mess trying to do that on short notice is.

Lotsa memories of Ernie Starr, growing up in the SE.
Does anyone remember playing out at "The Bubble"? It was basically a Sprung tent with a rink inside, out on 52nd St SE when that was the absolute edge of town.
Guess that would be mid-70s or so. I'm apparently old balls.

Lots of memories hearing about these old arenas.
I played out of the NE. Ernie Starr, Village square...
and the red and white Bubble.

Man I thought I was the only one who remembered that place. Wooden boardwalk to get to the ice, a step above playing outdoors though.
There was also an old wooden arena out in Okotoks, that place was great to play in, and then run around in after.

That was actually in Abbeydale on the corner of Memorial and 68th, which is still pretty much the edge of town. There's an Esso in that exact spot today.

Some of those names do bring back memories. I remember Ernie Starr and the Village Square quite well. We always felt like Kings when we got to play at Max Bell.
Indus? Just remember it being out in the boonies and very very cold.

I remember as a kid having a practice first thing that morning, at Sarcee, and there were..
COWS ON THE ARENA. Apparently, they brought the cows in to warm up, as it was brutally cold outside. So before zamboni'ing the ice, they shoveled all the patties.
Comical.

Indus was the coldest rink ever. We moved to an acreage out past Chestermere, and I played in Indus all the time. I swear it was colder in that rink than it was outside on a -20C day. Frozen toes all the time.
It was just a quonset over a rink I think.
I remember ECTAS opening, that was luxury.

I forgot about Stew Hendry and Henry Viney.
We often had practices there after school.
Nothing like climbing the mountain after Math class.

My kid has had games or practice in most of these ancient arenas so far this year. Stu Peppard is actually not that bad, Viney/Hendry has got to be the worst of the lot -- many homes these days have walk in closets that are as big as the change rooms there, and they smell like 100 years of sweaty children.

I remember eating a microwaved pilsbury mini pizza from the little food cantina never tasted better then after a 6 am game out in Beiseker Arena. Anyone remember having some glorious round french fries heavily seasoned from the old Family Leisure Centre out by Southland Mall?

What about old Murray Copot Arena, you would walk into the dressing room between periods and it would be like a smoked out hot box in there.

Anybody remember playing at Crowfoot the year they were adding the whole Y portion of the complex? There was pretty much an entire wall missing. We taped the hand dryer button down in the locker room to try to warm it up, which (shockingly) was unsuccessful.
