Eric Staal has been traded to the Ottawa Senators
The Phoenix Coyotes have traded Eric Staal to the Ottawa Senators for Right Winger David Setoguchi, Left Winger Daniel Winnik and Centre Trevor Lewis.
GM Kobasew19 released this statement early this morning "We would like to thank Eric for his time in a Coyotes uniform. He was an integral part of the Stanley Cup team last year and we wish him all the best in Canada's capital."
With the trade, the Coyotes added much needed forward depth as they lost a lot of players due to free agency.
"With Seto, Trevs and Winny, we add speed and depth to our lineup. All 3 will get a chance to play in a top 6 role for us so we are happy to have them here."
From practice this morning, Setoguchi was skating with Andrew Ladd and Jonathan Toews. While Lewis was centering the 2nd line with Winnik on the left and Justin Williams on the right.
